A stockbroking firm is looking to employ a suitably qualified candidate to fill the role of Compliance and Money Laundering Reporting Officer.
Their offices are in Sandton, Johannesburg.
Position Purpose :
The primary role of the compliance officer is to assist management and employees in discharging their FAIS and FICA responsibilities through the provision of compliance risk management services.
These services include the identification, assessment, management and reporting on compliance risks.
Key Accountabilities (including but not limited to) :
Performing all duties as required by the Financial Intelligence Centre Act (FICA) and Financial Advisory and Intermediary Services (FAIS) Act and subordinate legislation;
To act as the Money Laundering Reporting Officer;
Provide awareness training on FICA and FAIS;
Ensure employees are trained on relevant policies to be compliant;
Ensuring compliance that is in line with current legislation, regulations and supervisory requirements or provisions;
Develop and implement appropriate policies, procedures and controls to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements;
Ensure that internal rules and Compliance Manual align with the latest legislative and regulatory requirements and that all policies are reviewed and updated regularly;
Monitoring and testing the levels of compliance on an ongoing basis by performing sufficient and representative compliance testing;
Reporting of non-compliance issues to EXCO as required;
Stay abreast of regulatory developments applicable to FAIS, FICA and other relevant regulatory requirements and relay developments to appropriate staff;
Identifying compliance risks and implementing effective controls;
Ability to review / tailor discretionary client mandates;
Any other duties / projects that may be required by management from time to time.
Experience and Qualifications :
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in compliance & anti-money laundering within the Financial Services Industry;
JSE compliance exams (RPEs Regulation and Ethics of the SA Financial Market, Introduction to Financial Markets, and The Bond Market) ;
In-depth knowledge of legislation that impacts the Financial Services Industry such as FAIS, FICA, Prevention of Organised Crime Act, POCDATARA, Collective Investment Schemes Control Act and Regulation 28 as a minimum;
Experience in interacting with Regulators;
Experience in submitting annual compliance reports for a Cat II FSP;
Sound knowledge or risk management principals;
