We provide an API which allows third-party apps and websites to interact with their user's bank accounts in ways that unlocks the ability for companies across Africa to build innovative technology products quickly.

Creating innovative financial products is incredibly difficult today, and we believe that unlocking the way people interact with their finances starts with enabling developers with the tools and infrastructure needed to execute on their vision.

Stitch is looking for a Data Engineer reporting to our Chief Technology Officer. The successful member will work across the Engineering and Product teams to build the data pipelines and models that will help us make data driven decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Identify data needs for business and product teams, understand their specific requirements for metrics and analysis
  • Design, develop, and own efficient and scalable data pipelines and models that power internal analytics for product and business teams
  • Drive the collection of new data and the refinement of existing data sources
  • Work with production engineering teams to manage our data structures
  • Manage the SLAs for the data pipelines
  • Develop unified user data schemas and tables that provide a complete view of the business across our products
  • Build data pipelines that track our marketing funnel from visits to onboarding to active usage
  • Work on our centralized experimentation platform to pipeline experiment metrics and compute descriptive statistics
  • Improve our data visualization tooling and platform to help the team create dynamic tools and reporting
  • Our stack spans tools in Scala, Python, R, Javascript, React, SQL
  • Requirements

  • 3+ Years of experience in a Data Engineering or Data Science role, with a focus on building data pipelines or conducting data intensive analysis.
  • A strong engineering background with an interest in data
  • Prior experience with writing and debugging data pipelines using a distributed data framework (Hadoop / Spark / Pig etc)
  • An inquisitive nature in diving into data inconsistencies to pinpoint issues
  • Knowledge of a scientific computing language (such as R or Python) and SQL
  • The ability to communicate cross-functionally, derive requirements and architect shared datasets
  • HQ and Remote Work

    Stitch HQ is in Cape Town, South Africa. Remote team members will have the opportunity to visit our beautiful city regularly.
