CORE PURPOSE OF JOB
To supervise the Training Section of the Information Services and Training Department and to provide Information and Training services to the designated Faculty of Education.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
Assists and supports the Deputy Director : Information Services and Training in planning the services of the Training Department.
Supervises, administers, coordinates, schedules and participates in Training Services Section operations.
Supervises and develops human resources in the Training Services Section.
Delivers bibliographic information and training services to the Faculty of Education staff and students to meet their information requirements and needs
Advises on, participates in and liaises with Faculty of Education on LIS collection development.
Takes responsibility for personal and professional growth and development.
Knowledge of Information Literacy theory and practice
Ability to develop instructional materials and tutorials.
Advanced Search Skills to effectively search catalogues, databases and Internet sources.
Excellent communication skills.
Commitment to excellent customer service.
Excellent computer skills using operating systems, word processing, presentations and spreadsheets.
Thorough knowledge of LIS Information Services and Training policies, procedures, standards and strategic objectives.
Ability to work independently and co-operative with others
Strong public speaking skills
M + 4 appropriate qualification in Library and Information Sciences
3-5 years significant and successful professional Information Services experience, preferably in an academic library.
Previous exposure to ICT tools, electronic library and information tools
Candidates will be required to prepare a 15-minute presentation on their approach to the fulfilment of the key performance areas of this position.
