  • Origin and evolution of ISO 14001 and other standards within the 14000 family. -Overview of the Eskom world and the overall organisation value chain.
  • Principles and practices of conducting cost evaluation for environmental rehabilitation (Closure plans) -Principles, concepts and applications of consulting within a business environment.
  • Project Management. -Purpose, structure and application requirements of all Environments of all Environmental Laws and other related Legislation and requirements.
  • Research methodology and leading practices. -Sources and processes for remaining current on environmental management issues (Climate change, energy efficiency, new technology).
  • Structure, application and requirements of all applicable legislation regarding Eskom and its supplier’s activities with relation to environmental aspects.
  • Structure, requirements and application of ISO 14001. Skill -Analyse and interpret Environmental Legislation. -Analyse global environmental trends and practices.
  • Apply influencing behaviours when providing technical advice on environmental issues. -Apply interpersonal skills and communication behaviours to influence decision makers.
  • Apply root cause analysis techniques to deal with environmental incidents. -Apply the processes for obtaining environmental authorisations / permits / licenses.

  • Use various techniques to conduct gap analysis. Attributes : -Hearing -Visual acuity -Mobility / agility -Communication skills Assessment Key Responsibilities Develop and lead the development, implementation and maintenance of environmental management systems and related procedures and processes including environmental management related legislation, standards and environmental licensing / authorisation process in designated area of the business.
  • Formulate and implement operation plans to achieve environmental management objectives and key performance indicators (KPI’s), review and report performance with the aim of initiating improvement measures in designated area of the business.

    Intervene to influence proposed environmental management related legislation and standards, including the influencing of licensing and permitting process, and formulate recommendations to Eskom to comply with environmental management related legislation and standards in designated area of the business.

    Management and administration of a team of environmental practitioners. Initiate the implementation of best practice for environmental management and track implementation in designated area of the business.

    Manage, delegate and influence engagement with relevant stakeholders and authorities regarding environmental management and consult on strategic partnerships.
