Job Purpose The role entails providing advisory services to various clients in respect of Corporate Finances (both domestic and cross-border), joint ventures, capital structure / capital raising, restructuring and BEE.
Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities
Fluency in all critical technical areas, ability to swiftly resolve difficult issues associated with technical knowledge.
Manager within Corporate Finance Division of Standard Bank, advising Clients in respect of mergers, acquisition, capital restructuring, listings and capital raisings, leveraged buy-outs, valuations and black economic empowerment.
Managing across all stages of transactions, including conception (pitching), execution, documentation and closing.
Includes all sectors within the South African corporate landscape and cross border transactions outside of South Africa
Technical areas of expertise should encompass knowledge of inter alia the Companies Act, SRP Code, JSE Listings requirements and relevant Tax legislation.
Solid understanding and application of financial modeling and acumen.
Ability to identify the key issues on projects and develop a structured approach to resolving these issues.
Ability to gather knowledge and research effectively.
Ability to conduct relevant analyses and draw appropriate and compelling conclusions.
Ability to generate ideas and opportunities.
Preferred Qualification and Experience Knowledge
Post-graduate qualification, with at least 5 years' relevant experience (corporate finance / corporate development roles) and be able to demonstrate experience in the filed through a track record of financial institutions transactions, preferably in both South Africa and other jurisdictions.
An Honours or post graduate qualification from an internationally recognised tertiary institution is mandatory.
Experience
Co-ordination of due diligence in African countries, i.e. Nigeria, Kenya, Zambia, DRC;
Experience of BEE transactions and structures;
Excellent valuation skills;
Exposure to JSE listing requirements, Take Over Regulation Panel requirements.

Ability to lead Senior clients in the problem-solving process
Sensitive to client’s culture and have the ability to tailor solutions to suit the specific client
Ability to build lasting professional relationship with clients
Able to initiate pitches for new business / originates transactions
