Executive Manager : Finance & Corporate ServicesDescriptionAs the official Regional Tourism Organisation of Cape Town, The Client is responsible for Destination Marketing, Visitor and Industry Services.

The organisation serves a membership base of approximately 1300 businesses, operates a network of 6 Official Visitor Information Centre's with a vibrant and passionate team that services an average of 150 000 enquiries per month.

To deliver on its mandate and objectives, The Client seeks a passionate, highly energetic, dynamic and competent individual to fulfil the following executive management position.

Responsibilities : As one of three Executive Managers, reporting directly to the CEO of THE CLIENT, the candidate will be accountable for the managing and controlling of the financial, administrative and HR functions of The Client in line with an approved business plan and budget and in accordance with the Municipal Finance Management Act.

The key outputs are to ensure that : Strategic and financial alignment with City of Cape Town (CoCT) in line with the Service Level Agreement.

Assist in formulating the company's future direction and supporting tactical initiativesMonitor and direct the implementation of strategic business plansDevelop financial and tax strategiesManage the capital request and budgeting processesDevelop performance measures that support the company's strategic directionOn-

going proactive and effective communication with relevant stakeholdersAssist the CEO with the preparation, management & monitoring of the annual budget and providing intervention strategies as needed.

  • Timeous and accurate reporting and effective financial managementReporting : interpretation of financial reports; compliance of MFMA reporting;
  • frequent and accurate reporting on cash flow; regular reporting on performance against budgetEnsuring good corporate governance adhered to including internal and external audit and control functions, regular review of policies and contractual managementUnderstand and mitigate key elements of the company's risk profileMonitor all open legal issues involving the company, and legal issues affecting the industryConstruct and monitor reliable control systemsMaintain appropriate insurance coverageEnsure that the company complies with all legal and regulatory requirementsEnsure that record keeping meets the requirements of auditors and government agenciesReport risk issues to the audit committee of the board of directorsMaintain relations with external auditors and investigate their findings and recommendationsStrategic management and oversight of the HR functionManagement of team of 4 people and oversight of administrative and financial function across the organisationPursuit of sustainable private-

    public partnership opportunities to maximize return for the company whilst contributing to enhanced visitor and membership services and tourism excellence in Cape Town.

    This position requires an individual with sound, practical understanding of accounting, financial management, budget processes, the King IV Report, Municipal Finance Management Act (MFMA), the tourism industry (beneficial) as well as human resource experience at a senior management level.

    Advanced computer literacy as well as excellent planning, organising, interpersonal, verbal / written communication and relationship building skills.

    Competencies and skills An undergraduate degree or equivalent, 7 years related working experience with at least 5 years' experience in financial management, at a senior management and operational level are required.

    Leadership, strategic management, staff performance management skills and sound technical skills are a prerequisite for this position.

  • The candidate will have to work independently and motivate teams using innovation and initiative. To perform this job successfully, an individual needs knowledge of Business Operations;
  • Accounting software; Contract Management systems; Database software; Internet software; Order processing systems; Spreadsheet and Word Processing software;
  • Performance Management systems.The candidate will have to speak and write at least 2 of the official South African languages fluently, of which one must be English, and knowledge of a 3rd language is beneficial.

    Code 08 driver's license and own transport required.RemunerationA competitive cost to company package in line with Cape Town's remuneration model and executive management structure applies.
