Cape Town - The Accountant in this role will have 2 distinct responsibilities within Finance : 1. Responsibility for global reporting related to personnel costs and headcount (with very close links to Human Capital) 2.
All reporting for global client and retail fund administration expenses. Our client's back office is outsourced for which they pay charges for Fund Admin, Transfer Agency and Investment Admin.
Costs are managed and allocated per Fund Range (such as Segregated Mandates, OEIC Fund Range, 40 Act Funds Range) depending on the Fund Range structure, domicile and AUM (Assets under Management).
This position encompasses a hands-on role within the finance department, including management reporting, budgeting, regulatory reporting and analysis and discussion with a variety of business area heads.
The team is continually looking to improve processes and find efficiencies, and as such the candidate must be able to offer fresh ideas and help bring about change to improve current processes globally to ensure they are operating at the most effective level.
Key Responsibilities Human Capital responsibilities : Perform role and responsibilities of the HR Accountant to : Prepare / review monthly payroll reconciliations Post payroll journals Assist finance in reconciliation of balance sheet accounts for bonus and deferred bonus accruals and payments Manage monthly headcount input Prepare monthly headcount reports Prepare detailed variance reports Respond to RFP Requests from Marketing Maintain the HR Essbase database Develop HR’s ability to become a Strategic Business Partner in personnel decisions Responsible for preparation, reconciliation and explanation of the budget for personnel costs, under supervision of Head of Management Reporting Embed Essbase within HR to automate reconciliation and reporting needs including : Compensation review Payroll reconciliations Headcount reports Board reports Regulatory reporting Prepare data for Gender Pay Gap reporting and other regulatory reports Prepare and send annual PSA calculation (UK Fringe Benefits Tax) Cover for other members of the HR Reward and Ops teams Client and Retail Fund Admin responsibilities : Ownership of this expense line to ensure costs are recorded and allocated in the correct place Monthly management reporting to the business owner Preparation of monthly forecasts and annual budget Reviewing and approving invoice batches from the accounts payable team Other duties and responsibilities : Keep abreast of accounting, tax and regulatory changes Collaboration with other Finance team members is essential Collaboration with other teams to enhance cross functional effectiveness Technical knowledge and experience required : CA(SA) qualified 1 3 years’ experience (asset management / auditing background) Exposure to Human Capital and Payroll processes Attention to detail and willingness to get involved with all levels of the accounting and reporting process is essential Management or financial accounting experience advantageous System skills : Preferably Oracle Fusion and Hyperion Essbase Strong Excel Personal attributes : The candidate must have an eye for detail The candidate is required to be a quick learner with the ability to work independently The candidate must exercise discretion as they will have access to sensitive compensation information on a daily basis
