Description

Minimum requirements for the role :

  • A BSc in Engineering or similar is essential.
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in a senior role within a mining or heavy industrial environment is essential.
  • 5 - 10 years’ experience in running planned maintenance and production planning on an ERP system such as JDE, SAP or Oracle.
  • 5 - 10 years’ experience in process governance and standards.
  • Previous experience in Project Management.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in the following types of equipment and their application : crushers, mills, flotations equipment, pumps, classifiers, dry material, conveying systems, kilns and bulk material handling systems.
  • Experience in service level agreements and contract management.
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of commercial and financial management.
  • Working knowledge and experience of IT systems used to manage technical and CAPEX projects.
  • The successful candidate will be responsible for :

  • Managing the technical services team in a manner that strategic objectives are achieved timeously.
  • Setting up and maintaining various technical sections to provide the operations with technical services and support that will lead to technically efficient, effective and reliable operations.
  • Managing subordinates to meet departmental objectives and goals.
  • Promoting and facilitating knowledge sharing across the group by facilitating regular workshops with all technical and operating staff to discuss local challenges, innovations, successes and failures and creating communication channels to keep operations abreast of relevant information.
  • Engaging with technology partners (Omya, Carmeuse, etc.) to assist with optimisation, problem solving, research and development, ratifying new installations and benchmarking.
  • Providing technical assistance to all operations such as troubleshooting, root cause analysis, developing and maintaining an engineering dashboard and looking for alternatives to create better efficiencies.
  • Creating and maintaining a central technical library.
  • Providing technical support to the operations regarding process standards, best practice, operation of equipment, plant modifications, continuous improvement, bottlenecks etc.
  • Setting up governance and standards for end-to-end processes and KPIs.
  • Providing project plans, investment returns and high-quality reporting on initiatives and progress.
  • Salary package, including benefits, are negotiable depending on experience gained.
