What will you do in this role?

Design and create enticing motion graphics for video, digital and print based deliverables. The role requires an eye for detail with the ability to define and uphold the Company’s as well as specific clients’ learning identity guides, as well as the ability to manage time well and work under strict deadlines.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities

  • To create and craft design and motion graphics as per the requirements of the client brief, focusing on creation of assets (graphic elements), motion design, and delivering of high quality and innovative motion design and interactive design content.
  • This can include but is not limited to digital artwork of the following nature : motion and graphic design for presentations, motion design for video, storyboarding, print design, interpretation and execution of design systems and interactive design.

  • To conceptualise the design and motion and interactive design component of learning content.
  • To work together with various production team members and be a part of the execution of effective learning content.
  • To maintain and follow best practice for version control, naming convention, exports and organisation of graphic files set out by Lobster Ink.
  • Skills, knowledge and attributes

  • Proven Adobe Creative suite skills, with established experience in design and motion graphics is a requirement.
  • Proven ability to create high quality content from a loose or constrained brief with short deadlines.
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Premiere Pro would be advantageous
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 Suite.
  • Ability to conceptualise ideas and bring them to life visually.
  • Excellent time management and quality management skills are essential.
  • Understanding how visual design influences the way people learn is really advantageous, if this is something you don’t know - read up on it now, it will provide you with context and may be useful in your interview.
  • Print Design / Interactive / eLearning software / UX experience is beneficial.
  • Experienced in remote working.

  • Eager to learn and share knowledge.
  • Good interpersonal and relational skills. They don’t have to be amazing, we’re hiring you for your skill not water cooler chats (but someone is likely start chatting to you at the now virtual water cooler’.)
  • Ability to work well independently as well as in a team.
  • Collaborative and willingness to be stretched out of your comfort zone.

  • Proactive individual with proven strength in attention to detail and the ability to successfully manage several tasks simultaneously whilst maintaining quality.

  • A passion for creativity and a curiosity about how to use motion and design to solve communication obstacles or improve the transfer of knowledge.
  • Able to receive direction and constructive criticism well.
  • Organised and structured; copes well under pressure, with the ability to meet and beat given deadlines.
  • Good time management skills.
  • Displays a positive and enthusiastic approach to all their work.
  • Who you are?

  • 1 year diploma or more in a design / motion design discipline
  • Minimum 4 years working in Motion and Design discipline
  • Matric and relevant tertiary qualification in design or similar
  • A comprehensive digital portfolio or reel of motion design work
  • Industry experience is beneficial but a strong interactive design portfolio and solid understanding of design and motion principles is more important.
