A vacancy exists for a Regional Hospital Manager Coast West, reporting to General Manager : Acute and Complementary Operations.
The position will be responsible for a portfolio of hospitals and business units and will be located in the Coast West (Western Cape) Region.
The role involves the provision of strategic operational leadership to the hospitals in the region, including, but not limited to being responsible for functional and operational cohesion, ensuring quality patient care and achieving optimum efficiency and profitability of hospitals.
Critical Outputs Execution of relevant aspects of the strategy applicable to the South African business Manage the performance and development of function and operational reportees and their business units Identify and explore synergies to optimize resource utilization and business opportunities in the region Identify and, together with business development, develop opportunities for expansion in the region Secure and retain the services of high quality doctors and, in conjunction with Hospital Managers, maintain sound and productive relationships with doctors Sponsorship and support of group business policies and procedures, and governance requirements Create a culture which promotes co-operation and achievement of business objectives in the region (i.
e. high performance, customer focus, operational excellence, teamwork) Optimise utilization of assets (e.g. equipment, facilities, maintenance) Effective business management for the region (i.
e. profitability, ROCE, cash flow, productivity improvements) Effective reporting on financial, operational and quality outcomes of the region, extracting areas of the key focus and driving relevant actions Effective collaboration with the functions in the business with a view to achieving strategic objectives, consistency and cohesion (i.
e. Clinical Directorate, Finance & Administration, Pharmacy, Nursing, Quality, HR, Business Development, Information Management, Marketing and Communications) Build and maintain productive working relationships with all key stakeholders, internal and external Requirements In order to ensure optimal allocation of skills and experience across the business over time, it is critical that applicants are mobile Relevant Bachelors Degree.
A post graduate qualification would be an advantage Proven leadership and general business management experience within a healthcare environment, including commercial management and business planning processes Knowledge of the private healthcare industry, its challenges and role-players, including an understanding of relevant legislation Basic understanding of or the ability to learn specialization fields, terminology and medical equipment.
