You need to be ambitious, ready for action and you need to have a keen eye for detail. Youll take on the role of Head of Finance / Financial Manager in Stellenbosch in the beautiful Winelands area.
The ideal candidate is a CA(SA) and is highly driven. Youll be responsible for the analysis and management of all actuarial and financial activities related to the finance function of the company which includes Embedded Value reporting, SAM and IFRS17.

Duties Responsible for the full accounting function including month-end journals relating to insurance which will include premiums, claims, reinsurance premiums and claims, administration income and commission.
Ensure that preparation of monthly management accounts with detailed analysis is completed and submitted within the required deadlines.
Critically analyse Management Accounts for variances and action plans. Analyse the income statement cash flow variances and supply commentary.
Analyse and report on balance sheet recons and costs. Cost management and reporting which include monthly variance analysis and cost investigations.
Provide commercial and financial oversight in supporting the operational heads, while monitoring performance to approved budgets.
Maintain appropriate communication channels between Finance and the business. Evaluate and review the outcomes of the accounting process at all stages.
Compile AFS by complying with IFRS and relevant regulatory frameworks. Oversee debtors, creditors and cashbook management.
Statutory Regulatory Reporting : Reserve Bank, FSCA and Prudential Authority. Review the performance of the business using financial metrics.
Monitoring and forecasting of capital adequacy requirements. Provide actionable, relevant and time sensitive insight and information to the business to enable key business and strategic decisions.
Income tax and VAT compliance and submissions. Ensure that cash budgets and forecast cash flow positions are prepared on time.
Conduct a variance analysis on a weekly basis and provide management with a detailed analysis of changes and the reasons, therefore.
Maintain banking relationships and negotiate terms with banks. Ensure that sufficient reserves are maintained for short- and long-term liabilities including reserves for capital adequacy purposes.
Prepare analysis of short- and long-term liquidity requirements and ensure future cash flow requirements are based on accurate projections.
Ensure that sufficient funds are available to meet ongoing operational and capital investment requirements. Assist with automating accounting processes and where any development is required coordinate with the relevant departments to achieve that objective.
Create, implement and monitor processes and procedures around the creation of monthly forecasts. Develop and implement finance and accounting procedures.
Establish and maintain appropriate internal controls. Interact with other managers to provide support through financial and management information analysis, reports, and recommendations.
Continuous improvement of accounting and reporting processes in line with overall business objectives. Increase productivity by developing automated reporting / forecasting / budgeting tools.
Co-ordinate annual audits. Assets, procurement, commercial contracts and insurance management. Adhoc finance projects. Qualifications CA (SA) is essential.
2-year post article experience in a commercial environment in the insurance / financial services industry (in a non-audit environment).
Insurance industry experience preferable. Requirements and Responsibilities Dynamic, energetic, driven. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Excellent analytical and abstract reasoning skills, plus excellent organisation skills. Strong finance-based analytical skill.
Ability to work and communicate with Executive management regularly. Able to identify system inefficiencies and propose solutions.

Experience in a commercial environment, with responsibility / exposure to key aspects of complex accounting & actuarial processes including developing & implementing effective work processes, procedures and controls.
Experience in regulatory reporting. Technical experience with IFRS 17. Experience in the compilation and submission of tax returns.
Knowledge of accounting systems (e.g. Pastel Evolution). Understanding of SAM regulations. Make commercial recommendations in line with the companys strategy to enable growth of shareholder value, as per the organisations business strategy supporting financial architecture.
Assume responsibility for the overall integrity and operation of both the financial and actuarial reporting for the company.
Contribute strategically to the achievement of the companys vision and goals by guiding business decision-making. All financial reporting responsibilities at a group level.
