Amazon Web Services is looking for a highly motivated Solutions Architect Manager to manage a team Solutions Architects (SAs) in Sub-Saharan Africa and to be a hands-on leader-by-example.

You will help accelerate our growing Government, Finance, Education, and Non-Profit business as part of the Worldwide Public Sector (WWPS) business development and sales team.

Key job responsibilities· Lead solutions architecture teams in driving revenue and market share for AWS through technical engagements.

  • Build and develop a robust team of Solutions Architects.· Support the AWS Business development team to help formulate a strategy to help the adoption of AWS within South Africa.
  • Guide customers to ensure success in building and migrating applications, software and services following the principles of the AWS Well-Architected Framework.

  • Help educate enterprise customers on the value proposition of AWS, and participate in deep architectural discussions to ensure solutions are designed for successful deployment in the cloud.
  • Help provide one-to-few and one-to-many training sessions to transfer knowledge to customers considering or already using AWS.
  • Capture and share best-practice knowledge among the AWS solutions architecture community.· Author or otherwise contribute to AWS customer facing publications such as white papers.
  • Build deep relationships with senior technical individuals within customers to enable them to be cloud advocates.· Act as a technical liaison between customers, service engineering teams and support.
  • A day in the lifeEvery day as a Solutions Architect is different. One day you could be building a Proof-of-Concept to show a customer the art of the possible, the next you could be writing content that helps our customers accelerate, the next coaching others on a technology you have expertise in.

    BASIC QUALIFICATIONS· Background in any of the following : Cloud Architecture, Systems Design, Software Development, Infrastructure Architecture, Data Engineering or DevOps.

  • Have a demonstrated ability to think strategically about business, product, and technical solutions.· Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with business-fluent English, to be able to drive discussions in a customer organisation, as well as the technical background that enables you to easily interact with and give guidance to customers working in operational roles.
  • A passion for technology and for learning.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS· Experience designing, building, refactoring or operating large scale and impactful IT systems - either on premises or in the cloud.
  • Experience of large scale Migrations would be beneficial in this role.· Working knowledge of cloud native architectures.
  • Working knowledge of multiple technology domains, such as distributed internet-scale web or mobile applications, DevOps, Serverless, Big Data, AI & ML, enterprise workloads (SAP, VMware, Windows etc.
  • high-performance databases (SQL and / or NoSQL), complex networking implementations, highly secured workloads etc.· Experience working in a customer-facing role.

  • AWS certification (e.g. AWS Solutions Architect Associate or Professional) or other industry certification.
