What will you do in this role?

The Lead Instructional Designer represents the Instructional Design team in the Lead Pod structure on a project. Their role on a project includes the creation and design of innovative, creative and intuitive learning solutions to address the needs of the client as well as the Lobster Ink global approach to learning.

The Lead Instructional Designer is responsible for both the coordination and quality of the instructional design team tasks within a project.

Key Responsibilities

  • Is a key team member in the analysis and design of the learning solution in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
  • With the support of the Learning Solutions Consultant, the Lead Instructional Designer is accountable for the overall course design strategy and / or custom learning paths

  • Analysis of information that applies to the project and the creation of a scope of work based on a course strategy approach.
  • In the case of a Learning Strategy where the Lead Instructional Designer is acting as a support to the LSC, the Lead Instructional Designer must review the scope of work, prepare questions and attend handover and kick-off meeting
  • Understand source material and client requirements to craft well-written, and measurable learning outcomes.
  • The Lead Instructional Designer is a key stakeholder in the review of course content (includes but not limited to scripts, theory and practical assessments, learning collateral, storyboards and developed content) providing feedback to ensure instructional efficacy
  • Ensure accurate and comprehensive handovers to relevant stakeholders
  • Working with Instructional Designers, monitor the pre-production phase of course creation by ensuring the course outlines are completed accurately for each course and that scripts are audited to ensure continuity of learning outcomes and quality assurance.
  • Work with the lead team to conceptualize, storyboard, and bring to life creative, instructionally focused activities and lessons to achieve the outcomes created for the course or program.
  • Create theory assessments, practical assessments, and and brief in other collateral such as facilitator guides, workbooks, answer books, and job aids, etc.
  • Maintain high-quality learner experience by ensuring course learning assets are correctly uploaded onto the Lobster Ink platform and assist resolving any CRM issues pertaining to specific courses or projects
  • Onboarding - assist with the successful onboarding of new Instructional Design team members within the first 30 days of hire
  • Training assist with delivering relevant training and coaching to Instructional Design team members within the first 60 days of hire and as needed thereafter
  • Performance support and improvement - provide coaching and feedback to the team on an ongoing basis.
  • Quality - consistently strive to improve the quality of project team deliverables for all tasks in the different stages of the Learning Workflow process by conducting quality assurance using checklists at key checkpoints.

  • Technical skills : Proficiency in conducting training needs analysis for Clients, designing a learning solution, preparing a scope of work with a proposed framework and / or course strategy with a course outlineProficiency in working with SMEs to extract contentProficiency in the design of learning outcomesProficiency in lesson development and storyboardingProficiency in writing theory and practical assessment questionsExperience working with an LMS or digital learning platform / is preferredExperience working with Articulate 360 Storyline and Rise, and Adobe Captivate is preferred
  • Communication skills : Excellent written and oral communicationExcellent proofreading skillsAbility to apply persuasion and influencing techniques to gain agreement, commitment and / or buy-in from stakeholdersAbility to train and mentor colleagues

  • Who you are?

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in instructional design and minimum of one year experience in the e-learning environment.
  • Prior experience in lesson development and curriculum planning skills
  • Degree in Instructional Design, Education, English, Linguistics or degree in Industrial Psychology or similar
