  • Experience in an Accounting to TB rolePURPOSE OF THE ROLEThis position reports directly to the Finance Manager. The Financial Accountant (FA) is responsible for leading the financial division, to provide financial information and support and aid business planning and decision-making of internal and external stakeholders by providing information, analysis and advice and undertaking related accounts administration.

    System management of SAGE X3 to ensure optimal use for the business and financial reporting purposes. Being passionate about growing and caring for the environment, employees and partners whilst ensuring a compliant, service delivery focussed department meeting Group and statutory reporting requirements.

    KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS : Planning, directing, and controlling financial and administrative functions for the business by following company policies and procedures, and in accordance with South African legislation.

    Conducting financial analysis and preparing financial reports. This included the : Development and implementation of an effective system of accounting.

    Management of the payroll integration system.Capturing of monthly stock takes.Maintaining accurate and current records in accordance with SA legislation.

    Monthly journals included : Depreciation journal.Salary journal.Interest journal.Review and manage payments of : Salaries.

    Suppliers.Statutory payments (VAT; PAYE).Chart of account reconciliation to trial balance.Liaison with bank regarding finance requirements and maintaining current loan repayments and retainment’s.

    Participate in the provision of strategic, financial, and information : Providing financial advice and guidance to the Finance Manager.

    Participate in strategic and financial planning.Research, prepare and submit the annual budget.Provide detailed reports on financial and administrative matters.

    Attend manager meetings and submit presentations and report on the above.Evaluate the financial accounting, HR and admin functions and re-structure as required to ensure an efficient use of resources and alignment to required roles and responsibilities.

    This includes formalising job descriptions, role profiles and PD / scorecard for each employee under direct reporting structure as well as proper career planning and training gaps / development plans.

    Assist with the implementation of the strategic objective-plan linked to operational KPA’s from a Finance perspective.Provide comptrollership functions to ensure finances are managed according to legislation, policies and procedures and generally accepted accounting principles.

    Perform a health check on the internal control framework and ensure any critical control issues are identified and procedures designed and implemented to minimise risk and fraud.

    This should be done in conjunction with any recent audit reports and findings.Manage accounting and financial systems and maintain full and accurate accounting records.

    Conduct financial analysis and prepare detailed financial reports and statements.Define and develop a financial accounting reporting timetable for month ends and financial year end to enable timely and efficient analysis and report back.

    Provide financial accounting advice, direction, and leadership.Ensure compliance with financial legislation, policies, and procedures.

    Respond to auditors’ comments concerning finances and operations and oversee action to address deficiencies.Reconcile general ledger accounts.

    Provide leadership and direction to Finance and Administrative staff to ensure efficient use of human resources.Establish and maintain internal controls to ensure compliance with financial and human resources legislation, policies, and procedures.

    Evaluate the performance of and provide training and development opportunities for Finance and Administration staff.Provide leadership by delegating tasks, responding to staff inquiries, and providing overall direction to employees.

    Audit function : Assist in coordinating the year end audit with the designated auditors.Assist in ensure all points on the management report are resolved timeously.

    Other ad-hoc functions : Attendance of any monthly management meetings, telecons as required.Attend to any ad-hoc requests by Department Heads as and when they arise within reasonability.
