Purpose of the position :

The Membership Manager is responsible and accountable for growing and retaining the Client''s membership. This entails implementing clear member recruitment and events

strategies. The position is key to the engagement of businesses in the region to ensure the Client''s services and brand are visible and utilised.

Events play a huge part in the success of the Client''s brand and as such the role will manage the whole process from

the planning stage, right through to running the event and carrying out the post-event evaluation. The role is primarily hands-on and field-based.

Key Performance Areas :

  • Drive the membership business development and sales initiatives
  • Ensure effective implementation of the membership recruitment and retention strategy as per agreed numerical and revenue targets for each financial year.
  • Oversee events process / systems to ensure increased effectiveness and efficiency i.e. higher participation
  • Constantly refining the value proposition for the Client''s publications in liaison with the communications department to ensure uptake of advertising space in all publications as per targets
  • Oversee the capturing of feedback on member needs, including advice on desired networking events and opportunities, and member achievements / news, is chanelled back into the Client''s and into the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system.
  • Setting and meeting of monthly, quarterly and annual targets and budgets
  • Need to focus on both retention and recruitment

  • Job Requirements :

  • National Diploma / Bachelors Degree in Sales and / or Marketing and / or Events Management and / or Communications
  • Minimum 5 years experience in sales and / or events essential
  • Supervisory / Management experience
  • Computer Literacy MS Office Packages
  • Sales and marketing; Project Management; Communication and presentation skills, Negotiation skills; Budget experience; Target-driven;
  • Relationship building; Strong Public Relations personality

  • Creativity / ability to develop out of the box solutions to generate revenue and add value to member companies
