The main responsibilities of this job are :

  • Facilitate and monitor SHEQ legal compliance and advise on action planning
  • Facilitate SHEQ qualitative and quantitative risk assessments and advise on action planning
  • Monitor adherence status (legal, systems, procedures) are monitored
  • Monitor correct utilisation of the mill’s deviation management system (DMS)
  • DMS action items are recorded and monitored
  • Ensure line managers are coached to handle incidents and Root Cause Investigations
  • Participation in Mill tier meetings
  • Assist with selection of SHEQ training courses and content for the mill
  • Advises line management and assists with the implementation of new or existing SHEQ-related legislation, rules and Company standards to include fire prevention, health and safety awareness training, site inspections of Company and sites
  • To assist in retaining on all current quality accreditations
  • Scheduled Visible Felt Leadership (VFL) walk a-bouts in the mill
  • Update and maintain legal appointments on IMS
  • Manage IOD process according to policy
  • Update IOD spreadsheet monthly
  • Manage the BBS initiative, report and advice Management regarding any corrective action required
  • Facilitates the site health and safety representative activities
  • Maintains the BAPP track computer software
  • Analyse and identify problems using BAPP track data and ensures all Deviation action items are recorded and monitored
  • Maintain and improve standard on ISO / OHSAS / Occupational Health and Hygiene safety requirements
  • Manage data systems that records essential information.
  • Legal Register : Ensure that legal updates are communicated to site management
  • Aspects & Impact Register : Ensure annual revision and communication of critical environmental aspects & impacts to employees and on site contractors
  • Management Programs : Ensure that environmental management programs are developed for all high aspects & impacts / reviewed / updated and follow up
  • Investigate / assist in all investigations pertaining to personnel injuries / occupational illness / reportable injuries / fatalities / property damage incidents / theft / fraud / corruption / fire / spillages and other quality related incidents
  • Emergency Preparedness : Ensure emergency drills and evacuations are conducted and employees are familiarized with the emergency protocol
