The main responsibilities of the job are :

Install, maintain, repair, overhaul and program a wide variety of industrial Electrical Equipment such as BQS, BCU, PLC's, VFD's, MV and LV Reticulation related equipment, Protection equipment, Power generators and Auxilliary Equipment

Maintain all PLC and SCADA installations and Profibus network and perform system backups

Implement and commission electrical and PLC system related projects

Manage varied multi-disciplinary plant modifications and project work including design, commissioning and colse out.

Review equipment in line with technological advancement within industry on an ongoing basis

Ensure modifications and projects conform to Mill and Safety standards and specifications

Fault finding of field devices and system components with the aid of electrical drawings and test equipment, available scada and PLC information

Use adanced diagnostic tools to assist in locating faults

Provide technical support to the maintenance and production departments

Complete shut planning, preparation and execution

Supervise junior technicians and act in engineer role when required

The ideal candidate should have :

NQF Level 6 Qualification (S4 National Diploma in Electrical Engineering or related equivalent) while an NQF level 7 qualification will be considered advantageous

5 years of related experience within a heavy industry environment

Proven knowledge and experience of PLC / Profibus and heavy industrial electrical equipment systems coupled with project managment experience

Supervisory experience will be considered advantageous
