Position Purpose / Objective
The Manufacturing Engineer forms the link between Manufacturing and Engineering. Drive improved "Design for Manufacturing" drawings / designs.
Execute opportunities for improvement. Drive improved manufacturing processes.
Duties and Responsibilities
Act as liaison between Manufacturing and Engineering (local and overseas design engineers).
Observe challenges / opportunities for improvement in design (design for manufacturing OFIs)
Review designs / drawings submitted for manufacturing
Drive improved manufacturing processes and techniques
Complete involvement in the OFI process
Assist in effective sourcing / procurement requirements
Support the quality department and Works Manager regarding technical decisions and putting systems in place to deliver quality products
Assessing casting manufacturing processes and incoming items as well as WIP and nomination of hold / witness points
Forms part of the project management process and on time delivery goals
Liaison with clients who need to do an inspection of their machine(s)
Ensure completeness and compliance with QCPs
A tertiary mechanical engineering qualification (minimum T4, preferable B.Tech or BEng)
Practical and manufacturing experience of at least 8 years
Design experience of about 2 years (SolidWorks literacy is not needed)
Knowledge of quality systems
