The selected candidate will be required to support bids and proposals in developing man hour, material, and subcontract estimates for proposed ship repair, ship build and conversion projects.
Review customer specifications, conduct onboard inspections, and initiate clarification requests when required. Apply parametric standards and historical data to determine the estimated amount of effort and costs required for repair work.
Prepare pricing proposal spreadsheets and assist in the preparation of the final proposal for internal review and submittal to the customer.
Interface with vendors and subcontractor, as well as customer and other program personnel in establishing work scope pricing and schedule considerations Advanced education and ability to perform higher level mathematical calculations, formulas development, the ability to create, read, and understand engineering drawings, technical manuals, and technical instructions.
Understanding of ship construction, repair and techniques including dry-docking and operations. Ability to effectively communicate to Customers and the Company.
Ability to self-start and perform independently Preferred Skills and Education The successful candidate should have a Mechanical Diploma with a minimum of 5 years experience in ship repair trades, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
A strong trade background and work ethic, comfortable with the math and computer skills necessary to support detailed estimating requirements.
Requires being a team player and helping out with other employees deadlines. Physically capable of ship inspections requiring the ability to climb, stoop, bend, in closed spaces, at high levels, and small boat transit in protected and open waters.
