CORE PURPOSE OF JOB
To supervise and administer circulation services and ensure effective and efficient quality lending services that will meet the needs of all library users at the 2
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
Assist and support the Branch Librarian in planning the Circulation Services Department.
Supervise and administer the operations of the Circulation Services Department.
Supervise and develop human resources in the Circulation Services Department.
Supervise the circulation requirements of all library users; i.e. lending, inter-lending, customer services, photocopying services and off-campus services.
Assist the Branch Librarian with maintenance of library facilities and equipment.
Advise, participate in LIS collection development and administer circulation issues affecting all library users.
Working knowledge of the structure, organisation and understanding of internal / external changes of an academic environment.
In-depth knowledge of the Institutional, LIS and departmental policies and procedures.
Strong Interpersonal, Innovative, Relationship Building Skills in providing excellent customer service to diverse users.
Thorough knowledge of the relevant Integrated Library System Modules pertaining to circulation.
Ability to work independently in functioning of a section and participate in team development efforts of an academic environment.
Working knowledge of the MS Suite to assist in the revision and updating of Circulation Services policies and procedures as required as well as operating virtually.
Ability to present in house training, solve circulation problems, decision making and to perform under pressure.
M + 4 appropriate qualification in Library and Information Sciences
3-5 years significant and successful professional Circulation Services experience, preferably in an academic library.
Exposure to Circulation System, Modules, Inter-lending and Customer services.
