  • 1. Role Synopsis
  • Work with multi-disciplined teams to prepare, monitor, and maintain the integrated projects schedule for the raft of projects.

    Ensure project scheduling requirements are conducted in compliance with appropriate guidelines, conducting probabilistic schedule range analysis for the projects and preparation of appropriate reports to inform project teams on planned project delivery requirements, progress to date, schedule risks and mitigation options.

    Develop and implement schedule integration guidelines, prepare schedule components of project approval reporting requirements, including Identification, selection definition study reports and coordinate preparation and presentation on schedule related reviews and audits.

  • 2. Role Purpose
  • To provide project planning and scheduling services. These services include, but are not limited to :

  • Work breakdown structure development
  • Listing and duration of key dates
  • Progress monitoring and reporting thereof
  • Critical path analysis
  • Capturing, operating, and updating the relevant project schedules
  • 3. Role Responsibilities
  • Provide an effective centralized planning and scheduling support function
  • Define the scope of the project in collaboration with the Project Manager and project team
  • Create a detailed work plan which identifies and sequences the activities needed to successfully complete the project
  • Develop, implement, and maintain fully resourced schedules
  • Determine the resources (time, money, equipment, etc) required to complete the project
  • Develop a schedule for project completion that effectively allocates the resources to the activities
  • Revise the schedule as required
  • Determine the objectives and measures upon which the project will be evaluated by throughout its lifecycle
  • Track work activities and activity plans
  • Provide assessments of status, resource requirements, shortfalls, and work around plans
  • Identify critical issues milestones
  • Ensure all schedule data is prepared in a robust and transparent manner and complies with internal / external standards and requirements
  • Review and critique contractor schedules submitted for projects
  • Review project team and contractor monthly schedule updates and verify that the updates are an accurate representation of progress made
  • Ensure project change management i.e. change requests analysed (cost, time, scope, and risk impact)
  • Monitor dependencies affected by changes
  • Analyse project changes and update schedules accordingly
  • Provide schedule assurance audit functions
  • Maintain database for projects, close out reports, learnings etc.
  • Prepare and keep master plans for the overall project portfolio as well as sub-project plans for monitoring and tracking requirements
  • Compile Work Breakdown Structures in creating project schedules and estimates
  • Provide key data to Project Managers to update project status and impact (e.g. timelines, budget, resources, and delays)
  • Communicate any schedule conflicts, resource constraints, and time constraints to the Project Manager
  • Communicate and publish plans to appropriate team members to ensure understanding of the overall scope of the project
  • Utilise relevant project management software applications to develop project schedules
  • Review each project periodically to ensure projects are on time and within cost projections
  • Prepare an executive summary of all exceptions on projects, inclusive of tasks that are behind schedule, tasks that are competing for the same resource, conflicting priorities, and exemplary performance, etc.
  • Provide planning and resource allocation services that support the project schedule
  • Support the preparation of progress reports, standardized reporting procedures and the monitoring of overall project performance

  • 5. Qualifications
  • Relevant degree in engineering or similar tertiary qualification
  • Project Management Professional Scheduling Professional
  • 6. Experience
  • Extensive experience in a planning and scheduling role that includes experience with large multi-disciplined projects, preferably in the mining industry or other heavy industry
  • Advanced level of proficiency using Microsoft Office, Microsoft Projects, and Primavera P6
  • Experience in Earned Value Management
