Product Manager (Sub Saharan Africa)DescriptionPosition SummaryAssume responsibility for development, co-ordination and implementation of all-encompassing brand activities for allocated brands to achieve sales and profit targets, and drive market share gains across Sub Saharan Africa.

Defines the marketing strategy for the brands, builds and drives the degree consumer and trade marketing plans for each brand, leads and orchestrates paid, owned and earned activities as well as drives virtual selling activities, and other special projects initiated in the affiliate (launch and brand events)Key Roles & Responsibilities Derives and adapts the Global / Regional marketing strategy to maximize local relevancy : Set up of yearly launch, campaign, consumer and promotional calendars for each brand and for relevance for each market in conjunction with BDM Plan & implement promotional programs / special events in conjunction with BDM, in line with sales plan & marketing objectives Develop and conceptualise new promotional / special offers and proposed sell-in units relevant to each retailer.

Control, co-ordinate and monitor P&L on any program within budgets Ensure promotional and collateral allocations are communicated to distributors, sales, training and education teams as well as to retailers Ensure collateral and promotional orders are timeously processed, shipped and communicated to meet agreed OCDs Work closely with corporate DCM functions for SSA implementations Build collaborative distributor, retailer & internal department relationships Manage the requests and bookings of retail space for promotional / special event activities and oversees the execution Review market and competitive trends and provide feedback to BDM and team Prepare & Analyse data relevant to promotional activity and implement programs to maintain and grow category mix of business % and to grow market share Work in conjunction with the BDM on advertising requirements, ensuring schedules and material deadlines are adhered to and met In conjunction with the BDM, set price guidelines for the offers in relation to the competition & in line with required COG targets.

Communicate to relevant departments, suppliers, retailers as and when required Analyse, update monthly : sell through reports, category reports and provide corrective action / feedback where needed and communicate feedback to BDM and DP Work closely with distributor partners and retailers to build forecast demand plans that are aligned to Net Sales targets Sell-thru & activity report to be sent to BDM 8 weeks after promotion has ended with final outcomes, and feedback for future promotions.

Liaise with forecasting and planning departments to establish flow of stock, offer codes Coordinate and attend monthly Demand Planning meeting to establish / monitor shipping & lead times for programs / promotions Follow through and monitor shipping status in conjunction with forecasting department on all programs and take corrective measures Monitor expenses monthly to ensure they stay within brand objective and budgets Identify opportunities utilizing new creative approaches, external suppliers to seek market growth Contributes to Visual Merchandising decision-making (quantities, regional vs local production) and monitoring (budget, quality, delay), in particular regarding launches, in coordination with Corporate Visual Merchandising teams Review obsolescence monthly and set action plans to reduce excess / obsolete inventory within budget levels Conduct annual promotional range review and provide recommendations for pricing, rationalisation and range enhancement.

Ensure correct pricing rules, codes and systems are loaded correctly 3 months prior to OCD Ensure all elements for special events / promotional activity is secured 3-6 months in advance, and co-ordinate deliverables and setups to meet OCD Prepare, present marketing program to distributors, retailers and negotiate and follow-up input confirmations and co-op support Prepare monthly briefs for distributors and retailer teams on all related promotions, advertising support and execution plans Communicate with distributor and retailer teams with regard to collateral allocations, gift allocations, changes in promotional programs, sell in grids and all other details relevant to the marketing department Ensure on counter dates are met to execute with excellence and that all projects are seen through to completion Setup promotional program to be in line with international guideline Ensure regional approval on all locally produced elements Determine trade relevant retailer programs, communicate and execute Maintain and manage P&L statements and control of expenditure Monitor, review and action Reports - SKU, Price, Promotional reports Prepare for, present and attend weekly / monthly marketing & sales meetings Travel to Sub Sahara African markets as and when required Collectively with the BDM ensure all programs and launches are aligned to effectively execute the marketing objectivesQualifications Grade 12 Marketing Degree / Diploma Full, unrestricted Drivers license 2-5 years experience in category / brand / product management Advanced MS Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint SAP
