Purpose : The Management Accountant will be responsible for management of stock and yields, costing of products manufactured across the various Grocery division production plants, maintain and balance the MACS management accounting system.
The job incumbent will be responsible for strategic, broad-impact financial analysis, reporting, and financial systems development for RCL FOODS Consumer Grocery, under the supervision of the Commercial Manager Minimum Requirements Newly qualified CA(SA) or Qualified CIMA with manufacturing experience Management accounting experience, including commercial costing and some exposure to processing or manufacturing environments will be advantageous Working knowledge on MS Office Advanced Excel Valid drivers’ license Duties & Responsibilities Cost Accounting Profitability analysis for both customers and products.
Including the costing of new and existing products. Gain an understanding of all customer rebates, customer spend and distribution to perform accurate costings.
Calculation of oil selling prices to manage oil profitability; Review and implement stock count procedures and controls, attend stock counts to ensure these procedures are in place.
Review monthly stock variances and help processing plants reduce stock variances Evaluating BOM’s, yield variances and plant / operational flow Review weekly yields, to help processing plants to reduce yield variances Implementing documentation for new BOM’s / changes to BOM’s Grasp in-depth understanding of the RCL Foods Consumer Grocery finance / non-finance operations to improve overall business understanding / results / procedures.
Conduct ad hoc projects and feasibility studies in respect of product profitability Processing Managers monthly meetings to collate detail with regards to production and manpower needs for Monthly Routing Audits Information and Data Management Compile monthly management accounts in MACS, to ensure accurate profitability per customer, product and region.
Reconcile the management accounts to the TB monthly Determine product routings for new products and new manufacturing plants.
Maintain product routings for the existing products and plants. Keep the trading terms per customer updated in MACS and perform regular trading term audits Update the budget in MACS and ensuring that it is accurate.
Assist the new project development team with take-on of new business and efficiency projects Utilise analytical techniques and models to assist in business decision making.
Maintain the costing model to provide appropriate costing insights to the Business Share relevant data with management teams to enable reliable business decision making
