Your key responsibilities as the Senior Media and Content Strategist in Johannesburg will include :

  • Develop and execute proactive and news-driven media relations programs / project. Develop and implement creative story-
  • telling programs for earned media that produce superior results

  • Develop and / or oversee content, including press releases, marketing collateral, social media content, op-eds, website copy, e-books and whitepapers
  • Define and drive content creation goals, strategy, and tactics
  • Interface with lead internal and external client spokespeople and communications contacts in the management of media and content assignments
  • Leverage traditional media as well as digital / emerging technologies for PR programming and influencer outreach
  • Cultivate ongoing relationships with key journalists
  • In collaboration with account managers, help monitor projects to ensure that deadlines and quality standards are met
  • Assist in identifying the media relations and content talent needed for successful programs
  • Help set accurate campaign budgets and brings projects in on budget
  • Set and meet campaign measurement and evaluation criteria
  • Identify and assist in the training and development needs of junior staff on the media relations and content track, and spotlight opportunities which enable staff members to reach their full potential
  • Requirements for this Senior Media and Content Strategist job opportunity in Johannesburg :

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism, Marketing Communications, English or other related subject
  • 6+ years’ experience in public relations at an agency or corporate in-house
  • High creativity coupled with strong attention to detail and the ability to work in a rapid, deadline driven environment
  • Solid relationships and working knowledge of key online / offline media influencers / journalists
  • Firm knowledge of key issues and trends in health and / or technology industry sectors
  • Fluency and / or familiarity with digital and social media required
  • Strong understanding of the relationship between traditional public relations and the use of current online / digital technology and social media
  • Experience working on multi-disciplinary (holistic) communication initiatives
  • Familiarity and compliance with regulatory guidelines in regulated health communications is a plus
