They are currently in the market for a Senior Mechanical Engineer that will report directly to the Engineering Manager.The successful candidate will be responsible for all maintenance- and project-related activities at three of the furnaces and attendant auxiliary plants.
Furthermore, the engineer will also be responsible for the management of all relevant personnel and contractors, with all legal and statutory responsibilities attached to aforementioned.
Location (country, city) : eMalahleni, MpumalangaJob Qualification & Experience : The successful candidate must preferably have an appropriate university degree or B.
Tech as tertiary qualification, although diploma candidates will be considered if they have relevant experience and proven competencies.
A Government Certificate of Competence (Factories) will be beneficial, as will an MBA or similar management qualification.
The successful candidate should ideally have at least ten years experience, with 5 years exposure to a heavy industrial environment (preferably a smelting and / or metallurgical environment).
Exposure to both operational- and project environments would be considered beneficial; candidates with pure project / construction / consultancy backgrounds will not be considered.
Ideally, candidates will not be older than around their mid-40s.Candidates must have sound management skills, be self-motivated, and demonstrate initiative, creativity and sound strategic thinking.
There is no specific equity requirements associated with the post. Where candidates are equally qualified and competent, equity candidates will be given preference, but ultimately we are looking for the best possible person for the post
