Description A highly cash-based business in Pretoria West is seeking a young, knowledgeable and pro-active bookkeeper, ideally still studying with some experience, to assist with the financial aspect of the business that has an Annual Turnover of between 10 to 15 million Rand.

Weekly / Bi-weekly trips to the bank for cash deposits / withdrawals etc. Capturing of financial information; Debtors (cash & accounts), Creditors (cash & accounts).

  • Reconciliation & maintenance of Petty Cash account on a delayed basis. Assist in other related ad-hoc and administrative functions;
  • file / document management. To service the start-to-end accounting functions for new and existing customers / suppliers.

    Assist with monthly VAT calculations returns and submissions for the company. Assist with the Bookkeeping to Trial Balance duties, for VAT returns.

    Assist with annual audits of the company. Assist with the various legislation submissions such as EMP201, VAT returns. Complete reconciliations and address queries relating to various account balances (bank, debtors, creditors, etc), as and when required.

    The above list is not a complete list of duties, and the incumbent will be required to undertake such tasks as may reasonably be expected within the scope of the position.

    The incumbent should be prepared to work accurately and in a fast-paced environment during certain periods as the company has peak operational seasons, however some days are not as busy as others and the incumbent will be granted certain half days as management deems fit.

  • Desired Experience & Qualification 1-2 years experience in similar role a must. Studying towards a Finance / Accounting Diploma minimum;
  • BTech / BCom advantageous. Above average computer literacy including proficiency with Microsoft Office and its products and knowledge / experience with standard accounting software packages a must.

    Experience in QuickBooks and / or SAGE Online Accounting advantageous. Maintain confidentiality in all aspects and be flexible and work according to the needs of the organization and the Directors.

    Good communication skills (verbal and written). Must be an analytical, accurate and dedicated. Salary : R8000.00 pm while on probation for 3 months, set to increase thereafter according to knowledge and experience.
