About Discovery Insure Telematics Team The Telematics Division in Discovery Insure is responsible for the telematics solutions deployed to clients to monitor their driving behaviour.

The range of technologies spans from traditional M2M, black box devices through to more digital smartphone based telematics and IoT sensors.

The team is multi disciplinary spanning knowledge and engineering skills in cloud particular Amazon Web Services, Mobile application development to support our mobile driving application, hardware design ,firmware implementation and data analytics.

The Telematics team implements and supports such technologies within Discovery Insure but also has a strong R & D and innovation delivery outcome to find new applications of IoT technologies that can help with managing insurance risk.

The desired candidate combines entrepreneurial, technical, self starter and strong delivery attributes. Key Purpose To manage electronic IoT projects from end to end and build out IoT backends to support the solutions.

Areas of responsibility may include but not limited to

Design and write software to enhance features on our IoT Telematics platform

Run with technical IoT telematics projects from end to end

Manage Contract manufacturers of hardware solutions

Work in a team environment

Communicate effectively and manage technical telematics supplier teams Personal Attributes and Skills

Drive to learn new skills and concepts

Turn around solutions quickly

Able to handle multiple complex projects simultaneously Education and Experience

Matric

BSc Engineering (Electrical / Software Engineering)

Understanding of PCB and hardware design

Understanding of firmware design and coding

Proficient in at least one development language e.g. java, C++,

Proficient in a scripting language preferably python

Proficient knowledge of relational and non-relational databases

Comfortable working in cloud platforms, especially AWS

Understanding of OOP concepts

Familiarity with Unix / Linux
