Serve as an Office 365 / Exchange Subject Matter Expert to both advise and guide the customer and the technical members of the team on how to successfully navigate the migration process from the current environment to the new environment.
This includes the newer versions of Microsoft Exchange on-premises (2013 / 2016 / 2019) and Office 365 (O365) or Microsoft 365 (M365) services.
Office 365 operation, including monitoring, troubleshooting, automation, and configuration
Performing preventative maintenance and help manage security within AD and Office 365
Planning and documenting O365 configuration, migrations, testing and validations strategies
Work with the Customer and Project Manager(s) on a regular basis to create / refine / revise the Project Plan as needed for the project.
Test and validate the proposed solution will work as expected through a rigorous User Acceptance Test (UAT) plan.
Familiar with the planning, deployment, and supporting of the various Microsoft MFA (Multi-Factor Authentication) solutions.
Perform the Pilot / Early Adopter migration and support the participants to ensure a successful transition. This includes providing post-migration configuration of the migrated accounts, developing migration reporting on the success / failure of that migration to the customer the following morning.
Recommend a migration approach / tactic. On larger, more complex projects where a Project Scheduler is required, the Sr.
O365 / M365 & Exchange Engineer will work with a Project Scheduler to help develop a detailed Migration Schedule as part of the customer deliverable.
Help support the migration effort by developing customized mailbox migration scripts that automate and or streamline repetitive tasks such as building Migration Batches, Checking the status of Migration Batches, Migrating customers mailboxes, Applying Post-Migration Configuration settings as needed, Auditing, Post-Migration Reporting, etc.
Directly interface with the client on a regular basis and provide Project Status updates and Best Practice recommendations based upon their objectives and business or technical needs.
Support the Project Manager with developing project schedules, presentations, and reporting as necessary. This includes leading and presenting to the customers business and technical representatives to provide status updates, explain project issues and risks, provide training, or provide recommendations and guidance.
Provide mentoring to junior or technically less experienced staff when and where appropriate
Basic understanding of Azure IaaS networking and deployment concepts
Basic understanding of server virtualization
Strong customer service and professional client-facing skills
3-5 years of experience in deploying Active Directory / Azure and Microsoft Exchange / O365
In depth knowledge and working experience with Exchange 2013-2019 and Exchange Online
In-depth understanding with implementing, configuring, migrating, and securing Office 365 / Exchange Online, Exchange Server, & Exchange Hybrid solutions, and other Microsoft 365 Suite solutions like Teams, OneDrive for Business etc.
Experience with performing migrations from on-premises exchange message system to Exchange Online
A full understanding of Microsoft Office 365 administration and experience supporting complex environments
Strong technical skills in on-premise Exchange, Exchange Online and other mail platforms
Windows PowerShell experience related to Microsoft Azure, Microsoft Office 365, and Exchange Server.
Strong understanding and working experience on Active Directory, Azure Active Directory and related technologies, especially DNS
Experience in migration tools, Exchange / O365 Native Migration Tools (Hybrid, Cutover, Express, Staged, O365 Import Service, IMAP), 3rd party tools like BitTitan, etc.
Strong knowledge related to email security and security practices in general
Microsoft Certifications (M365 Enterprise Administrator Expert , M365 Security Admin Associate) are a strong plus
Communicate effectively with all levels of staff and management both verbally and in writing.
Must be self-sufficient and have the capacity to work alone or with a team and adhere to tight project deadlines with little supervision
System migrations and ability to operate and maintain Microsoft Networks
Solid understanding of TCP / IP, subnetting, and routing concepts
VMware vSphere and MS Hyper-V Administration.
