PURPOSE OF THE JOB : To optimise the production process and to continuously improve current practices, method, equipment and processes in a safe manner, in order to exceed current production targets and reduce costs to the company.

Job Responsibilities : SAFETY, HEALTH, ENVIRONMENT AND QUALITYManage SHEQ compliance within the Section through effective use of the ToolboxUtilise the Information Management System (IMS) to initiate, investigate and report SHEQ statusManage adherence to all related SOP’s, PTO’s and CTO’s as per Training Matrix per position, SHEQ and company standardsUphold & improve safety standards PEOPLEManage the SectionEnsure an enabling climate / cultureManage labour stability by minimising labour turnoverLabour complement in line with budgetAchieve HDSA / Female targets for the Section Manage performance against set targets and competenciesEnsure IDP’s are linked to performance results and implemented as per planConduct career discussions and implement actions with all identified talent (quarterly)Ensure discipline is maintained (absenteeism, lateness, overtime, misconduct, etc.

Coach and counsel people to ensure improved performance levelsConduct recruitment interviewsCUSTOMERS Quality : Ensure Customer SatisfactionBUSINESS PROCESSESProduction Management : Define and manage the overall Production Strategy for the plantSet and achieve Production BudgetSet and achieve Production QualityManage the integration improvement projects and change management initiativesAchieve Production QualityRaw Materials : Plan and authorize Raw Material ordersManage Raw Material stocks & QualityAssess suitability of raw materials for processGROWTHManage Continuous Improvement through Operational ExcellenceSHAREHOLDER VALUEBudgeting Prepare Production and Raw Materials budgetConsolidate Production Raw Materials budgetMonitor Production and Raw Material budgetAction variances and actual to planned costsMonitor Over / Under productionBEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES : Safety LeadershipInnovationLeadershipPlanning, Organising & ControlResults OrientationProblem Solving & Decision MakingAligning Performance for SuccessCommunicationChange LeadershipBuilding Strong TeamsBusiness AcumenDegree or National Diploma in metallurgical or Chemical Engineering6 years’ relevant experience, preferably 2 years’ managerial experienceFerroalloy smelting experience will be advantageous.
