Responsible and accountable for and providing cross-departmental oversight of the overall project deliverables, resource allocations and provision of specialised technical expertise, thereby aligning to the Group’s medium to long term strategic and operational objectives.


Financial and management reporting strategy implementation

  • Ensures that the implementation of a system by any Group company is aligned to the Aspen best practice by actively participating in and contributing to the system design and implementation.
  • Provides functional guidance and expertise for resolution of issues in new system implementations and consider potential enhancements or improvements that could also be backwardly integrated into existing systems.
  • of improvement / enhancement initiatives, through solid knowledge and understanding of configuration dependencies and interrelationships between separate functional modules.

  • Reviews all documentation that is being prepared for each new implementation to ensure the Group reporting requirements are effectively met
  • Oversees the effective migration of data from one system to the next.
  • Business process strategy implementation

  • Compiles and thereafter maintains policies, procedures, SOP’s, work instructions and training material for use by all finance team members and SAP FI / CO users
  • Monitors the implementation of the policies, procedures, SOPs and work instructions
  • Trains newly hired people in the application of Group policies, procedures, SOP’s and work instructions
  • Promotes the use of One Aspen Online as the go-to repository for shared documentation.
  • Develops, maintains and acts as the primary custodian of the global chart of accounts and global profit centre structure
  • Business support services

  • Provides direct support to the business as requested by the Group Executive : Group Finance Business Support and the Group Finance Business Support Integration Head
  • Project Management

  • Ensures the project management expectations are understood, including dependencies on other projects and ensure that deadlines are either met or the project plan is appropriately modified (following input from the Group Executive : Group Finance Business Support and the Group Finance Business Support Integration Head) if necessary.
  • Ensures the project plan is updated, based on the above by the project administrator.

  • Develops and maintains strong, collaborative working relationship with other Group functions and other business units
  • People development

  • Actively coaching and mentoring direct reports and the broader staff, providing feedback and developing and growing employees to develop their technical and soft skills
  • Requirements


  • B.Com Hons or similar tertiary qualification e.g. B.Tech in Cost and Management Accounting
  • CA (SA) with B.Com Hons and Articles or similar qualification would be advantageous
  • SAP Certified Application Associate - Financial Accounting
  • SAP Certified Application Associate - Management Accounting Advantageous / In process (SAP Certifications with a minimum of ECC 6.
  • 0 with recent Enhancement Package or S4 Hana)

  • Working in a Manufacturing environment (7+ years)
  • Senior management role (7+ years)
  • Supervision of a staff (7+ years)
  • Integrated ERP environment e.g. SAP / Baan; systems and related tools / applications (5+ years)
  • 3-5 years in SAP implementations and roll-in’s, providing (Specialist) leadership, both in terms of overall and technical / functional direction and support
  • Fully computer literate incl. proficiency in Excel
  • Knowledge of Project Management protocols and procedures
  • Strong appetite for continuous improvement initiatives / projects

  • Prior experience in the interpretation and use of relevant Accounting Standards, Tax Act etc.
  • Direct the compilation of Policies / Procedures, Standard Operating Procedures and Group Standards
  • Energetic, enquiring mind, self-motivated, with good problem-solving skills, initiative and a passion for service excellence
  • Must be diligent, astute, with a focus on attention to detail, high sense of urgency and deadline driven
  • Mature, resilient, assertive, someone with unquestionable integrity who commands respect
  • Ability to work under high pressure a calm, organized approach and ability to prioritize
  • Ability to build strong relationships with senior local management and demonstrate strong leadership skills
  • Ability to interact with all levels of staff
  • Highly analytical, project management skills, ability to influence and logical thinking skills and abilities are essential for success in the role

  • Experience in a Finance / Controlling Department in a Managerial role (5+ years)
  • Excellent Technical skills Accounting and SAP
