My Client is one of Africa’s largest and most respected traders in agricultural products, with established footprints across sub-

  • Saharan Africa, North America, Europe, the Middle East and South East Asian countries. Commodities include : cashews; oilseeds;
  • sugar; coffee; pulses; wheat; fertilizer; rice; maize and sesame seeds. Reporting to the Finance Executive, the accountant will play an active and key role within the finance function of the Business Unit, with responsibilities for finance operations in Mauritius.

    The successful candidate will be responsible for : The execution of the accounting and reporting function for the Commodities & Trading entities, as well as other group and related entities in Mauritius The execution of the cash book function for Switzerland Fulfilling statutory and corporate reporting requirements Financial year-

    end processes, including liaising with auditors and support with preparation of financial statements in accordance with IFRS Involvement in the budgeting / forecasting process Implementation of best corporate governance and internal control procedures and systems Responsible for preparing and reporting the daily position and daily P&L for the commodities trading business Take ownership to design and implement the daily position and P&L reporting process Work closely with the trade, operations, finance, systems and risk teams to ensure daily reconciliations are done in a timely manner Analyze positions and P&L to explain the reported result Apply a systematic problem-

    solving approach to identify causes, explore alternatives and recommend the best course of action to resolve the problem now and into the future Month end reconciliation to management accounts Drive continuous improvement of the processes Support the accounting and reporting team with improving the month end reporting process Ad-

    hoc projects and tasks as required B Comm degree Minimum of 2 4 years relevant experience in a similar role in the commodity trading industry Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (emphasis on Microsoft Excel).

    Advanced VBA knowledge is beneficial Strong change management and analytical skills Strong initiative and ability to manage multiple assignments Ability to complete projects timely (deadline driven) and accurately is critical Excellent Communication skills and able to work well with remote teams Must be detail oriented with strong analytical skills Ability to work well with others (teamwork) in a fast paced and dynamic environment The role requires a hands-
