Zutari : Co-creating an engineered impact. We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Global Design Centre (GDC) in Cape Town to lead our Mechanical and Hydraulic Services Team.

As part of our GDC Built Environment Unit, you will be part of our leadership team, providing people, technical and project delivery leadership.

You will be leading teams to deliver international projects, build deep client relationships and continuously develop our digital delivery capabilities.

  • Role Responsibilities Provide leadership to a team of digital designers, engineers, technicians and modellers, maintaining a high performance culture;
  • Lead large scale multi-disciplinary projects; Exceed team’s budgeted utilisation levels and grow team revenue; Ensure deliverables comply with project management governance requirements;
  • Understand the VDC environment and successfully direct the design team from project inception through to site hand-over;
  • and Challenge the team to remain ahead of the technology curve, regarding technical trends, as well as design execution Minimum Requirements Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in the HVAC, Plumbing and Wet Fire Protection environment, within the Built Environment and preferably within a consulting engineering business;
  • Experience in driving and supporting business development activities and strategy delivery; Uptime Institute Accredited Tier Designer (ATD) (beneficial);
  • A proven track-record of leading the delivery of large scale (and complex) international projects; Previous exposure to datacentre, stadiums, education, healthcare, and other commercial related projects;
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in engineering, Mechanical, PrEng or similar; Strong understanding of local & international codes & standards, including those applicable to South Africa, Middle East, SE Asia & Australia;
  • Understanding of LEED / WELL requirements (beneficial); and Understanding of Carier HAP / IES with profieciency in Revit and Navisworks We believe that a diverse workforce is key to our business success.
