CBI Electric : low voltage is recruiting for suitably qualified, motivated and passionate Test Technicians (Electrical) Engineering Division, to join their dynamic team.

Qualifications & Experience : The suitable candidate should have :

  • Grade 12
  • National Diploma in Electrical or Electro-technical engineering
  • Ideally the incumbent will have 3 to 4 years’ experience in a similar test or lab environment
  • Thorough knowledge of test methodologies and techniques
  • Good working knowledge of general-purpose office software
  • High Voltage safety awareness
  • Have the ability to work independently or in a team
  • Have the ability to communicate verbally and in writing on product testing or test system related matters
  • Preferably have knowledgeable in the safe use of HV and LV systems
  • Manufacturing experience

    The incumbent will work in the discipline of electrical test services, performing electrical tests and related work on products in the CBI portfolio.

    The work will be done in support of product development activities, product evaluation, failure analysis, product certification programs and product support tests.

    Responsibilities : The work and responsibilities of a test technician will cover a range of test activities, including inter alia the following duties :

  • Applying the test methods and procedures as a specified, to achieve the required accuracy and repeatability with the measurement results, for a range of product parameters
  • The test technician will use sophisticated test equipment which may include test instruments, test equipment or test systems in the Test Lab and Test Station, as part of the test work
  • The test technician will focus on tests to confirm and / or verify the functional and physical attributes of the products
  • Participate in compiling and updating test requirements, specifications and procedures used in the Test Centre
  • Ensure that equipment and instruments are maintained in good order
  • Assist with maintaining a quality management system to ISO 9001 and ISO 17025 in the Test Centre
  • Responsible for regular maintenance and technical audit inspections of equipment and facilities used in the department
  • Apply the prescribed company security and housekeeping rules at all times
  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations when operating tools, instruments and equipment.
  • Draft test result reports to a professional standard acceptable to accreditation bodies
  • Assist in failure mode and root cause analysis
  • The duties in the Test Station require the successful applicant to be trained as an ORHVS (Operating Regulations for High Voltage Systems) responsible person
