Technical Data Scientist - Cape Town Introduction It is the responsibility of the Technical Data Scientist to execute initiatives that touch upon strategic planning, research and development of data science techniques for client projects and internal products.
You will need to have experience using statistical computer languages (R, Python) to manipulate data and draw insights from large data sets.
Knowledge of a variety of machine learning techniques (clustering, decision tree learning, artificial neural networks, etc.
s or PhD in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or another quantitative field, and is familiar with coding knowledge and experience with several languages : C, C++, Python.
Must have knowledge and experience in statistical and data mining techniques; GLM / Regression, Random Forest, Boosting, Trees, text mining, social network analysis, etc.
You need to have worked with Amazon Web Services and have experience creating and using advanced machine learning algorithms and statistics : regression, simulation, scenario analysis, modeling, clustering, decision trees, neural networks, etc.
The individual should have experience analyzing data from 3rd party providers, Google Analytics, Adwords, Adobe Analytics, experience with distributed data / computing tools : Map / Reduce, Hadoop, Hive, CouchDB, and visualizing data for stakeholders using : Power BI, D3, etc.
The Technical Data Scientist will assist with data considerations during the project design phase and provide guidance on best practices on the data life cycle for products, from capture to analysis.
You will report on data-driven product insights, automating reports where appropriate. Analyze data from company databases to drive optimization and improvement of product development, marketing techniques, and business strategies.
You will work with stakeholders throughout the organization to identify opportunities for leveraging company data to drive business solutions and assess the effectiveness and accuracy of new data sources and data gathering techniques.
Developing custom data models and algorithms to apply to data sets. Use predictive modeling to increase and optimize customer experiences, revenue generation, ad targeting, and other business outcomes and coordinate with different functional teams to implement models and monitor outcomes.
You will develop processes and tools to monitor and analyze model performance and data accuracy. It is your responsibility to stay up to date with industry trends and technologies.
Document findings and present recommendations based thereon and develop and maintain applicable code libraries. You will assist with the manipulation of large datasets and derive insights from datasets and communicate with them to management and write fit for purpose scripts at the request of project teams.
