The position reports into the Head of Human Resources.

Your responsibilities will include :

  • Advise and provide support to HR Business Partners and all Stakeholders on all IR related matters (in line with best HR practice, Legislation and recent case law).
  • Develop a system where all IR matters will be recorded and tracked.
  • Ensure that all IR related matters are effectively and timeously resolved.
  • Report on all IR matters on a monthly basis and provide recommendations on where corrective action needs to be taken.
  • Partner with HRBP’s and Practitioners on implementation of interventions to proactively address IR matters in the business.
  • Monitor compliance to applicable labour legislation.
  • Ensure all HR practices are fair, consistent and executed within the boundaries of relevant HR policies and procedures of Takealot.
  • Maintain and establish healthy relationships between trade unions and management.
  • Conduct IR Training to all Managers.
  • Ensure that all Disciplinary matters are dealt with in accordance to the Disciplinary guide and procedure.
  • Prepare legal technical documents such as applications for condonations, applications for rescissions and applications to stay writs of execution on behalf of members for matters set down at the CCMA (Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration) and occasionally at the Labour Court.
  • Represent the Group in conciliations and arbitrations at the CCMA (Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration) and occasionally at the Labour Court.
  • Ensure adherence to the Codes of Good Practice of the LRA.
  • Project Lead on designated IR interventions.
  • Attributes :

  • Organisational and Industry specific knowledge will be advantageous.
  • High level of attention to detail with excellent time management, planning, coordinating and prioritising skills.
  • Excellent negotiation, liaison and administrative skills.
  • Practical knowledge of generalist HR environment.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, within set guidelines and adhere to deadlines.
  • Excellent telephonic, verbal and written communication skills across all levels within the organisation official business language is English.
  • Independent, self-motivated, proactive thinking, ability to do own job planning and function independently.
  • High level of multiskilling, flexibility and ability to work as part of a team.
  • Results driven with high customer focus and excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Qualifications and Experience :

  • Bachelor of Commerce, Business Science or Bachelor of Social Science degree with Human Resources subjects.
  • Honours or PGD in Labour Law or LLB Degree will be an advantage.
  • 5 years proven IR experience preferably in an e-commerce company in Africa and / or Distribution environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of South African Labour Law including Case Law, Amendments and Sectoral Determinations.
