Brief Description
The Wits School of Education is seeking to appoint a suitable candidate at Lecturer or Senior Lecturer level in History Education to contribute to the School’s initial teacher education and postgraduate programmes, as well as to its research activities.
Qualifications and Experience :
The successful candidate must meet the following criteria to be appointed :
PhD in History or History Education
A professional teacher’s qualification with History as a teaching subject
Experience in teaching History and History subject methodology at school and / or tertiary level
Experience teaching large classes
Evidence of research, supervision and a publication record.

at undergraduate level, in the PGCE programme and at post-graduate level; an understanding of Critical Theory and Decolonisation Theories and debates for postgraduate teaching.
Remuneration : Dependent on the level of appointment.
