Job Purpose

  • To provide the strategic and support services required to enable the Group VAF business to perform its core functions effectively.
  • To support the Head of Group VAF in organising, establishing and refining the day-to-day operations of the Group VAF teams to operate within its required performance parameters.
  • To manage and coordinate reporting, logistical, operational and project management support across all VAF business units to ensure effective functioning of the business area
  • This is a developmental role to provide the incumbent with business exposure across the VAF value chain.
  • Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities

    Operationalise the VAF Business Strategy

  • Partner with VAF Exco and BU Mancos to operationalize the strategic pillars of the VAF business strategy. This will involve elements of planning, aligning teams and ensuring adequate trade-
  • offs between various priorities and initiatives.

  • Drive the concept of a universal banking offering by identifying and leveraging integration and collaboration opportunities across Group VAF
  • Develop and in-depth understanding of the Group VAF echosystem internally and externally in order to support the executive and senior management teams in the formulation and articulation of goals and objectives.
  • Assist in cascading the strategic decisions throughout VAF through reports, executive packs, communication and presentations.
  • Lead and / or participate in Group VAF projects where required.
  • Identify areas for improvement across the business and develop the high level business case for change.
  • Coordinate and manage Projects and Events

  • Ensure that the necessary sign-off is obtained on the project scope and / or event brief
  • Establish, coordinate and chair project and / or event working groups where necessary
  • Track progress of delivery outcomes of the project and / or event in line with the project scope and / or event brief
  • Compile and distribute project / event updates to VAF Exco as and when required.
  • Responsible for the overall delivery of project and / or events under his / her mandate
  • Collate and prepare Executive Packs, Presentations and Communications

  • Coordinate and source information and inputs required from various stakeholders to ensure that executive packs; reports and / or presentations are prepared timeously and accurately
  • Collate, prepare and circulate executive packs, reports and / or presentations to the relevant stakeholders
  • Store and maintain executive packs; reports and / or presentations on the relevant platforms (e.g. SharePoint)
  • Ensure accurate version control of executive packs; reports and / or presentations
  • Prepare and draft communication on behalf of VAF Exco
  • Proof-read and edit communication as and when required
  • Facilitate the distribution of communication using the appropriate channels
  • Research

  • May conduct in-depth research, including economic, competitor, industry and asset-based finance related best practice and trend research to fully understand the business landscape and identify opportunities and threats.
  • Present the research findings to relevant stakeholders in a relevant, accurate and concise format that facilitates the sharing and development of ideas to support effective decision making
  • Office management and administration

  • Manage stakeholders and build relationship with key internal partners to increase responsiveness to ensure effective office management in 33 Baker
  • Responsible for projects / events that affect all VAF staff in terms of the office environment (e.g. relocations; office churns; etc.)
  • Participate in negotiations of internal service level agreements with other business areas delivering a service to VAF.
  • Ensure that where formal agreements are needed, these are documented and signed off. Track performance against these agreements.

  • Enlist the support of business process management teams to create and update all key processes for the area (where relevant).
  • Personal Development / Commitment

  • Accountable for maximising the development opportunity during the 12 to 18 month appointment into this role
  • Proactively seek opportunities to continue to grow and learn outside of formal development structures
  • Identify and share feedback with VAF Exco on ways to improve the program for future incumbents
  • Identify areas in VAF where he / she can continue adding value once sufficient experience has been gained in the role
  • Constructively engage with all business environments where there is misalignment and opportunity to integrate and proactively influence and foster the need for change.
  • Preferred Qualification and Experience

    5-7 years

    Experience in the vehicle and asset finance environment. Analytical experience. Experience with writing business reports and business cases.

    Sound understanding of business financials and the ability to prepare business proposals and presentations.

    Knowledge / Technical Skills / Expertise
