Santam Claims has a position available for a Claims Information Specialist. The position reports to the Manager : Claims BI and Analytics and the successful candidate will be based at Auckland Park, Johannesburg.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The position is responsible for managing the development and use of various information applications and technology within Claims Services.

The successful incumbent will be accountable for decision making about information application enhancements, product releases, maintenance and upgrades with regards to claims data exploitation tools used within the organisation (Claims).

The Claims Information Specialist will also act as the liaison between Claims Business and Business Information Technology Services (BITS).

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage and Prioritization of BISS and Business to BITS Information projects
  • Manage Jira & Confluence governance and project documents and standards
  • Development and implementation of the Business Unit’s business intelligence and information reporting strategy.
  • Ensure the enablement of information extraction and analysis in the business units.
  • Help with the development of Management’s key performance indicators and measures.
  • Liaise with Business Unit’s Executives and Managers to obtain strategic information requirements.
  • Pro-actively identify and communicate more efficient ways to perform analysis to the business.
  • Development, enhancement, implementation and maintenance of the business intelligence capability.
  • Prioritization of Business and BITS projects
  • Develop and implement a reporting framework that measures, audits, analyses and reports on performance metrics related to Service Levels Agreements’ (SLA’s) and other Key Performance Indicators’ (KPI’s) of claims business units. (Rari)
  • Develop and deliver a consistent and uniform product or service to the Business Units
  • Unified Qlik, Business Support SFTP sites, SAS Visual Analytics and Cognos
  • Manage Access and maintenance of Information solutions
  • Alignment with BITS data strategy
  • Centralise reporting in Business Information Self Service by Drive self-service principles with the operational business
  • Responsible for ensuring the execution of corrective actions and on-going compliance specifications to the business / internal stakeholders
  • Manage the performance and efficiency of direct reports through active coaching and training.
  • KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Development and implementation of the Business Unit’s business intelligence and information reporting strategy.
  • Ensure the enablement of information extraction and analysis in the business units.
  • Help with the development of Management’s key performance indicators and measures.
  • Liaise with Business Unit’s Executives and Managers to obtain strategic information requirements.
  • Pro-actively identify and communicate more efficient ways to perform analysis to the business.
  • Development, enhancement, implementation and maintenance of the business intelligence capability.
  • Creating relevant documentation for new business requirement including Release document after implementation of change.
  • Assess the cost and productive use of business intelligence in the Business Unit.
  • Identify Business Intelligence opportunities by analysing and evaluating business requirements and trends.
  • Assess the current reporting environment and develop proposals for effective and efficient reporting in the Business Unit.
  • Record business definition and appropriate meta-data (information about the data such as terminology, data definitions, validation rules, etc.
  • for the Business Unit’s data.

  • Manage data quality improvement.
  • Manage data incidents in production environment with BITS including investigation and testing of results.
  • Manage Processing Channels in MDM pertaining to Mainframe environment reporting when change requested from Management.
  • Training information consumers.
  • Governance - To ensure leverage of existing business intelligence thereby lowering development costs for other business units.
  • The implementation, maintenance, communication and enforcement of the relevant information management policies and procedures.
  • Ensure that the information principles such as consistency and standardization are enforced in the Business Unit.
  • Define information processes, policies and standards to ensure accurate and complete information.
  • Ensure the alignment between the business intelligence strategy and BI solution delivery
  • QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Matric (Grade 12)
  • Agile Certification (Scrum Master / Product Owner)
  • 6 - 10 years’ experience in Claims Business Information Management, Data and Analytics
  • At least 3 years managing and mentoring a team
  • Experience in understanding database structure and data extraction principle
  • Proven experience in the design and implementation of business intelligence solutions.
  • Experience in corporate performance management development.
  • Expert level business analysis knowledge and techniques.
  • Experience with techniques and tools relevant to business intelligence, management information, statistics and analytics.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, including ability to anticipate problems and use judgment appropriately to plan solutions.
  • In depth knowledge of short-term insurance business processes and information structures.
  • Excellent negotiation, consultation, interpersonal, communication, consensus building, facilitation, report writing and presentation skills.
  • Excellent planning and organization skills.
  • Project Management skills will be an advantage.
  • Lean Six Sigma Certification (Green Belt) ADVANTAGUOUS
  • SKILLS

  • Solid data analytical skills and must have experience in extracting and manipulating data using tools such as Business Objects, Qlik, Cognos, Office 360, and SAS Visual Analytics
  • Project Management using tools such as Jira and Confluence
  • Familiar with IM external systems.
  • Must demonstrate strong business and financial acumen and ability to interpret and utilize key financial and statistical data.
  • Ability to influence business decisions, using data-driven (qualitative and quantitative) insights.
  • Ability to build business strategies and lead a team of high functioning quality analysts.
  • Aptitude, interest, and self-motivation to continually learn new tools and techniques.
  • Ability to articulate ideas clearly with exceptional organizational, presentation, and communication skills both verbal and written
  • Advanced relationship management skills, including partnering and consulting with senior management and executive roles a
