  • Nursing Unit Manager - Parktown West Introduction We are looking for a Nursing Unit Manager who will be responsible to promote the resident’
  • s health and wellbeing by ensuring that the nursing care provided is of the highest standard and that the nursing service is rendered within the scope of practice for nursing staff.

    The holder of the post is responsible for his / her own actions within the framework of applicable legislation and statutory requirements.

  • The holder of this post will have nursing staff comprising of : Registered Professional Nurses Staff Nurses Nursing Assistants Care Workers Duties &
  • Responsibilities Duties, Responsibilities & Key Performance Areas include : Hours worked : 80 Hours in a 14 day cycle.

    Residents : Develops a daily management and long-term care plan Ensures that the basic nursing needs of the residents are met Collaborates with physicians and multi-disciplinary professional Liaises with residents and their families ensures that complaints are dealt with and the necessary adjustments are implemented.

  • Participates in the screening process of new applicants & gives input in decisions relating to the room allocation. Staff : Attends the daily meetings to give feedback from the unit Directs, monitors and develops nursing staff to provide nursing care Compiles and monitors monthly work rosters for nursing staff Allocate nursing staff &
  • addresses misconduct Policies & Guidelines : Maintains nursing operations by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing programs, operational and personnel policies and procedures.

  • Enforcing adherence to nurses’ act requirements and to other governing regulations. Administration & Workload : Planning, Organisation &
  • Administration of records & data, registers (in accordance to legislation & stat requirements) reports, statistics, business plans.

    Evaluation staff performance General Monitors and controls the use of stock and equipment in the wards. Is co-responsible for strategic, functional, operational and short term planning of the service rendered.

  • Qualification Grade 12 Professional Nurse / Registered with Nursing Council; with psychiatry and geriatric qualifications Driver'
  • s Licence Proof of continual professional learning / development 5 Years Nursing Experience (as a registered sister in a professional setting) 5 Years Managerial experience Beneficial : Experience working with dementia patients / Frail Care / Old age home Effective bilingual, interpersonal and written communication skills.

    Afrikaans. English speak, read & write) In depth knowledge of : medication, dispensing of medication and record keeping of medicines received and issued.

    Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) Managerial skills Ability to complete tasks within allotted timeframes Creative, excellent observation skills, able to take initiative.

    Work within and cooperate with a multidisciplinary team Committed to best practices Able to do conflict management, able to deal with emotionally charged situations Able to delegate and administer workloads Monitor and evaluate work performance Able to prepare and present training Exceptional problem solving, prioritizing, and multitasking skills Strong Administrative skills Record keeping skill Willing to work within a Christian environment Willing to work after hours and be available for call-outs / consultations.
