The Faculty of Commerce, Law and Management at the University of the Witwatersrand wishes to appoint a Head of School for its new School of Business Sciences.
The successful candidate will be offered an appointment for a period of up to five years, with a possibility of re-appointment.
The Head of School will provide the academic vision and leadership required to enable the School to maintain excellence in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in the disciplines of human resources management, information systems, insurance and risk management, management and marketing, as well as in its research activities, academic citizenship and community service.
The candidate should have attained appropriate academic qualifications (preferably a PhD) with a substantial record of publications in a relevant field, and should have sufficient academic and professional standing as to command the respect and confidence of members of the School, and of the academic community.
S / he must possess a high level of managerial and inter-personal skills.
The Head of School will be required to set the direction of the School within the wider mission of the Faculty and University and to lead and manage the School to meet its strategic goals.
The successful candidate must provide academic and research leadership. S / he will also be responsible for the financial management, human resources management, operations and administration of the School.
