Synopsis

A financial services provider is seeking to employ a Financial Services Data analyst to lead cross-functional projects using advanced data modelling and analysis techniques to discover insights that will guide strategic decisions and uncover optimisation opportunities.

Description

Include and are not limited to the following :

  • Interact with internal and externals source system owners to solicit information and data
  • Construct logical data integrity test processes (regular and ad-hoc)
  • Quickly understands the business issues and data challenges of the environment
  • Liaising, gathering, eliciting and analysing of business and data requirements including data standards to meet defined business requirements
  • Working with business users to define business process to compliment the overall solution
  • Analysing and reporting on data quality for specific data sets
  • Perform complex scenario calculations to identify errors, omissions and appropriate corrective actions required
  • Perform portfolio performance and attribution testing across large number of funds
  • Design and perform reasonability test processes across multiple business units to enhance operational controls
  • Design and perform data gap analysis protocols across multiple databases
  • Technical Recommendation and Testing

  • Understand application database structure and build adhoc PSL / SQL queries
  • Gap Analysis, Test Script, Unit Testing, Regression Testing, System Integration Testing
  • 3rd Line support when required
  • Static data maintenance
  • Leads testing efforts, particularly related to data matching and verification
  • Working knowledge of data constructs and principles of database design. Must be able to interpret an Entity Relationship diagram
  • Ensures issues are identified, tracked, reported on and resolved in a timely manner
  • Works with client personnel to identify required changes
  • Communicates needed changes to SBU’s
  • Task Execution

  • Assists in enforcement of project deadlines and schedules
  • Takes input from supervisor and appropriately and accurately applies comments or feedback
  • Consistently delivers high quality services to SBU’s
  • Understands the components of running an end to end successful task
  • Qualification

  • BSc in Statistics or a similar qualification
  • Required Experience and Skills

  • 3 5 years relevant experience in the financial services industry (preferably asset management)
  • Strong analytical and data analysis skills
  • Advanced excel skills
  • Strong logical capability
  • Systematic thinking approach
  • Highly analytical thought process
  • Strongly motivated by a need to deliver quality solutions with innovation
  • Good communication essential, as well as high attention to details
  • This person will work with financial and administrative data, performing data comparisons, logical calculations and comparisons and continual data integrity testing across multiple portfolio and transactional databases
  • Advanced excel knowledge
  • Ability to build adhoc SQL queries
