About the Unit
Business Unit Africa offices are located in Johannesburg, South Africa. We currently have a domestic presence in Cameroon, Cote d'Ivoire, Ghana, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Zambia, Mozambique and South Africa.
The Customer Insights and Performance Manager needs to drive deeper understanding of customer needs, behaviour and trends that will give Yara Crop Nutrition Africa a competitive advantage in developing and implementing go-
to-market strategies as well as developing trusted advisor status and preferred partner status with key customers and channel partners.
The key focus is to generate actionable customer insights that provide the basis for business & customer strategy and assist in assessment of customer performance across all markets in BU Africa.
The successful candidate will have experience in developing and managing complex customer insights within Africa. The candidate must have demonstrated sound business judgment and able to think strategically, while at the same time have the analytical ability and desire to drive hands on execution.
Support key markets within BU Africa as Analytics Business Partner; by actively supporting the development and implementation of distribution concepts in line with business segment requirements and design key channel overviews and metrics that create efficiency;
Generate customer & farmer insights (e.g., segmentation, customer needs, journeys, buying behaviour, etc.) to support value propositions and find opportunities for marketing campaigns through the use of both internal data, ad-
hoc customer surveys and other market research as required to inform go-to-market decisions; marketing and sales tactics.
Understand customers’ / partners’ needs and behaviours;
Capture and anticipate customer and sales trends to support targeting and prioritization of opportunities within channel tiers
Identify and lead development of standard customer and sales reports across all markets;
Analyse existing external distribution structure and inventory to improve channel health;
Establish and track product brand affinity for key growth customers;
Review and analyse proposed sales programs from the sales organization including running ROI estimates;
Develop and implement (in collaboration with business management) measurement tools to track Sales incentive programs, and overall field sales performance levels;
Work collaboratively with sales team and supply chain to develop and report monthly financial forecast and deliver cumulative account flash report to finance;
Identify and apply best practices on Customer Insights development and delivery and Customer / Sales Performance Management across businesses;
Continuous benchmarking and competitor analysis
Tertiary qualification in Retail / Channel marketing or equivalent
Minimum five years’ plus experience in Marketing, Sales / trade marketing, Channel management environment;
At least three years working within customer / consumer insights function;
Advanced analytical skills with the ability to perform data analysis and interpretation, and manage data;
Experience with general program & project management; strong ability to influence and gain support of internal stakeholders needed to support program efforts;
Ability to synthesize clear, actionable insights & action plans from various data sets and insights;
In-depth understanding and support of Business Plan processes and quarterly / mid-year reviews;
Outstanding organizational, time management, decision-making skills and self-motivating
