To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • Manage the operation of the Parts Department (New and Used parts) ensuring :
  • The efficient and effective management of stock keeping service levels high and stock values down, delivery of correct parts to customers and Workshop on time;
  • and that relevant documentation is completed accurately including invoices, payment and other and official papers.

  • Build and develop customer relationships through the provision of excellent customer service, ensuring customer needs are being met, and parts services are developed to meet the future needs of the customer.
  • Build and develop new and existing parts business and participate in and initiate active and effective marketing of the business in order to achieve increased parts sales.
  • Monitor, analyse and keep updated relevant figures for the parts business. These include customer and special discounts;
  • KPI's for sales and marketing and competitor activities.

  • Monitor the processing of complaints and process major or complicated complaints.
  • Work with the Workshop Manager / Service & parts salesman to manage the daily procedures and work flow between the Parts department and Workshop / Service & parts sales to ensure efficient operations.
  • Liaise with the Workshop to ensure parts availability and ensure packaging, exchange and warranty parts procedures are adhered to.
  • Lead and motivate the Parts Department staff.
  • Ensure that the distribution of tasks and procedures are developed and adapted to relevant capacity requirements and employees' abilities.
  • Participate in DCS process to ensure pro-active planning of workshop parts need.
  • Ensure New and Used parts shelving and binning is always to highest dealer operating standards.
  • Recruit, develop and train staff to meet the demands of the business.
  • Supervise Parts Department staff, including monitoring of relevant key figures, authorising overtime.
  • Oversee all Health and Safety regulations within the Parts Department, ensuring safe work practices are adhered to, including maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and tidiness within the Parts stores and the ongoing condition of its equipment.
  • Familiar with the workings of a dealership / workshop and workshop administration.
  • Technically competent to provide support in assessing used parts.
  • Capable of assessing an accident damaged vehicle and providing valuable input into a quotation to repair.
  • Code 14 licence and PDP will be an advantage.
  • Education and / or Experience :

  • Matric
  • Previous experience in Parts Operation automotive industry / warehouse environment
  • Previous supervisory experience
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :

  • Proven organisational skills and administrative skills
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to perform tasks carefully and accurately
  • General warehousing skills & knowledge
  • Process and procedure driven.
  • Knowledge of the automotive industry and technical awareness of vehicles
  • Excellent customer service skills and ability to build and manage relationships
  • Communication and sales skills
  • Effective time management skills and ability to meet strict deadlines
  • Able to work on own initiative and under pressure
  • People management skills
  • Knowledge of procedures and laws concerning stocking, packing and treatment of waste.
  • Awareness and understanding of health and safety requirements
