The role

Supporting development, operational and implementation teams at a senior developer. Develop, prototype and maintain web based solutions for the XPLAN suite of products.

Support and work as an integral part of the web application development team. Successful candidate will be using modern tools and techniques to create leading products for the wealth management industry as well as to champion exposure to the SA development team from new global tech initiatives.

Work on new and existing features as well as troubleshooting and fixing issues. You will need to recognize and meet continually shifting priorities in line with discussion and adjustments to committed dates.

Collaborate with colleagues to determine viable options for client solutions and then follow through until the issue is resolved.

Communication and Integration with the global teams from a technical perspective. Upskilling of the SA team of new frameworks, patterns etc.

coming from global initiatives as well as supporting global Operations teams, predominantly (but not exclusively) SA and UK.

What you will be doing

  • Innovate and develop world-leading products for wealth management domain.
  • Perform software engineering tasks to ensure the highest levels of product quality are met
  • Provide technical leadership, motivating and coaching of junior staff
  • Review and analyze business requirements, develop product and platform solutions to extend and enhance IRESS product offering
  • Develop high quality automation test scripts to improve test coverage, product quality and time to market
  • Assist in identifying product and process weaknesses and possible refinements in an environment of continual evolution and improvement.
  • Analyze system and production defects, including troubleshooting and root cause analysis
  • Form part of our global support team that supports our local and global hosting and hosted services operational teams with applications and tools deployed to our production environments.
  • What you will need

  • IT Degree or Diploma : Software Engineering or Computer Science
  • Knowledge of source control, release management, testing and task management, working within a team environment (including application life cycle management), working within an AGILE framework
  • CI / CD build pipeline setup knowledge using tools like TeamCity, Jenkins, GOCD and Buildkite
  • Commercial experience using Javascript frameworks like REACT, GraphQL, package managers, transpilers, JS unit testing, JS build processes
  • Commercial experience using SQL and relational databases and exposure using Git source control systems like Gerrit, Bitbucket, Github
  • Experience doing containerization using Docker or Kuberneties
  • Commercial experience using C# to build solutions using .Net / .NetCore
  • Good understanding writing code using OO, SOLID and Clean Code principles
  • Python development experience highly desirable
  • Cloud computing experience and writing infrastructure as code using technologies like Terraform, Code Deploy, Cloud formation highly desirable (AWS / Azure)
