Minimum requirements for the role :
BSc. Engineering Qualification or a B.Eng. in Mechanical Engineering is essential.
Must have completed and be certified in GCC factories.
Must come from a 24 / 7 Manufacturing Environment, preferably from the Petrochemical Environment.
Previous experience managing a team of technicians or artisans within a manufacturing industry or related is essential.
Must have knowledge of the South African National Standards (SANS) 347 Codes and Practices.
The successful candidate will be responsible for :
Achieving the operations Mechanical Engineering objectives through the implementation of relevant best practices, based on the principles of planning, organising, leading and controlling activities and employees.
Building and maintaining solid relationships with customers and suppliers.
Providing mechanical engineering support to the operation as well as leveraging knowledge to enable an empowered workforce.
Monitoring the units Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality aspects, as well as ensuring adherence to legal requirements.
Overseeing the units finances as well as ensuring effective and efficient reporting to enable strategic decision-making.
Implementing and overseeing business improvement initiative plans, as well as setting up and executing long term strategies.
Assessing and planning in order to prevent machine and operational failures.
Upgrading and replacing operational equipment critical for gaining competitive advantage.
