Xylem Water Solutions SA seeks to appoint a Field Service Technician Diesel Mechanic , to be established in Kempton Park , South Africa.
JOB OBJECTIVEService Technician / Diesel Mechanic is required to maintain and repair all diesel-powered units as required using the equipment supplied, he / she may conduct emergency work when necessary including having to work overtime to complete work and attending to emergencies while on standby.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND FUNCTIONS
Carry out service and emergency work on pumping and associated equipment at customers’ premises as well as at the XSA Workshop.
On site commissioning and control panel settings to application requirements.
Checking stock, unloading deliveries and checking equipment received.
The person is responsible for maintaining all relevant documentation and reports for work undertaken, consistent with company policies and quality assurance procedures and for maintaining the workshop / vehicle so that it conforms to all necessary ESH requirements.
Entering confined spaces to retrieve pumps.
Prepare service reports.
Clean, strip, overhaul customer pumps and products and provide quotations to customers for cost of repairs.
Process conversions for pumps consistent with orders and technical work manuals.
Inspect and test products prior to dispatch to customers.
Maintain service and hire records using ISCALA and written records for future reference and to comply with all Quality Assurance Procedures.
Provide timely and accurate advice and support to staff and customers on service, workshop and product related issues both orally and in writing where required.
Participate in branch meetings and provide input on workshop activities.
Actively participate in audits for QA and ESH systems and practices
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
A minimum of 3 5 years experience as a qualified Diesel Mechanic Section 13 trades person.
Strong working knowledge, at least 3 years, on Electronic as well as Mechanical Catterpilar and Perkins Diesel engines, Diesel engine driven pumps and pumping applications.
Strong technical background.
Confined space accreditation are desirable
Valid Driver's License
Standby for after hours emergencies is a requirement.
Excellent problem solving ability.
Strong working knowledge on pumps and pumping applications
Strong mechanical and Electrical aptitude
Time management skills.
Excellent communication skills
Be able to work in a team environment.
Result orientated, whilst still being committed to fulfilling the requirements of Xylem’s QA and ESH programs.
