PURPOSE OF THE JOB
The Cloud Engineer : Systems is responsible for the design, implementation, performance optimization and integrity of the Linux and BSD environments.
This role is responsible for the stability, integrity and day-to-day performance of the hardware and software. The Cloud Engineer : Systems applies proven communication and problem solving skills to troubleshoot performance issues, provide reliable backups and be part of the engineering and implementation of the various infrastructure components that forms part of the systems environment.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent Essential
Systems Certificate (Redhat / LPI / BSD) Essential
Enterprise class hardware certifications / courses Desirable
Networking certifications (CCNP / JNCIP) Desirable
5-7 years of experience as a BSD / Linux / Windows / Solaris systems administrator
7-10 years progressively increasing responsibility in computer operations, network and systems administration, and systems engineering
2-3 years’ customer support experience
Utilize advanced systems engineering experience to conduct capacity planning, advanced problem diagnosis and resolution, system monitoring and error reporting, and system maintenance including creation and maintenance of systems documentation and diagrams.
Able to complete installations in a timely and professional manner, including proper mounting of hardware and securing of cabling to ensure that systems are properly secured globally.
Demonstrated project management and leadership skills.
Well-developed verbal, written, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
Able to troubleshoot challenging problems.
Able to write proposals or papers and make presentations.
Able to act as liaison and manage vendors.
Able to work closely with upper management.
Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions under high-pressure situations.
Good understanding of scripting, PowerShell, and Python.
