N6 Mechanical Engineering or Higher Qualification Requirements Previous experience in an engineering / production environment Knowledge of the ISO 9001 : 2015 requirements.
Implementation of a QMS would be an advantage. Internal and external auditing in a quality environment. Formally trained or a minimum 2 years of experience.
Excellent communication skills. Excellent computer literacy Good knowledge of MS office suite. Will be required to produce reports and graphs.
Great attention to detail. Experience on CAD 2D (either AutoCAD or TurboCAD) an advantage Ability to read and understand engineering drawings.
Duties Maintain all aspects of the ISO 9001 : 2015 requirements. Ensure compliance with external / surveillance audits and attend to any non-conformances.
Ensure compliance at recertification audits. Schedule and conduct internal and supplier audits. Supervise and guide team of quality control inspectors.
Ensure quality control inspectors are adequately trained and equipped. Assist SHEQ controller to maintain quality records relating to safety Ensure calibration register is up to date for all measuring equipment.
Ensure all measuring equipment requiring external calibration is carried out. Conduct in-house calibration of measuring equipment.
Ensure test equipment is fully functional and operating as required. Analysis of inspection reports. Ensure material specifications are adhered to.
Raise corrective actions where necessary and ensure they are correctly route and closed out. Approve engineering drawings for production.
Draw up specifications for new products which includes : Material requirements, Bill of materials, Performance specifications, Recommendations for outsourcing (preferred suppliers) Produce a costing analysis of new products.
Update costing analysis of existing products as required. Ensure system bill of materials for all products are accurate and update as required.
Source and approve new suppliers. Produce planning schedules based on product forecasts. Ensure buying department places orders based on planning.
Review purchase orders for best price and quality. Ensure minimum stock levels are maintained. Review and maintain work instructions.
Create new work instructions where necessary. Conduct planned task observations on production staff. Conduct and report on periodic sample testing.
Review and revise where necessary all policies and procedures relating to the QMS. Identify opportunities for continual improvement.
Ensure all products are produced according to specification. Ensure existing products comply with the specifications. Assist R&D department with new product development.
Investigate and implement cost saving strategies in terms of materials and labour. Produce product reports for customers.
Assist with any technical queries on the shop floor and machine shop. Investigate and produce reports for any warranty claims.
Assist with stock cycle counts and investigate discrepancies. Assist with periodic stock counts and investigate discrepancies.
Resolve quality-related issues in a timely manner. Updating job knowledge by engaging in relevant educational opportunities and regular training.
Train the production team on quality control measures to improve product quality. Staff supervision - Coach and mentor junior employees (Inspectors) Ad-hoc tasks as requested by management Perform any other duties as assigned by management from time to time
