  • Takes and hands over shift.
  • Operates and maintain the Fuel rod plant to manufacture fuel rods for the boilers as an alternate fuel to coal.
  • Performs routine checks and report any abnormal or unsafe conditions to the Foreman or Engineering team.
  • Performs and completes plant checks and checklists daily and rectify or report any defects on plant.
  • Start and Stop plant as required, according to BOP’s.
  • Performs fault finding on system during Operations or Breakdowns to ensure quality product is being produced at minimum downtime.
  • Completes Isolation / lockout to ensure personal safety when completing any tasks on the plant.
  • Investigate incidents and identify root causes of non-conformances and breakdowns.
  • Carries out Plant related tasks on instruction from the Foreman.
  • Ensures premises are secured and no unauthorized persons are allowed in.

  • Provide first line repairs of all process plant and equipment
  • Schedule maintenance for the plant according to notifications and planned schedules.
  • Ensure optimum plant availability by efficient diagnosis, repair and maintenance of all process plant and equipment.
  • Inspects plant, equipment and their components for the purpose of evaluating condition, identifying necessary repairs and recommending preventive maintenance.
  • Prepares written materials (e.g. repair status, activity logs, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities and / or conveying information.
  • Responds to emergency situations for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
  • Withdraws spare parts from Main stores utilising SAP.
  • Improve and maintain Master Data in SAP accurately. ENSURES, SAFETY & ENVIRONMENTAL COMPLIANCE
  • Understands the SHEQ requirements of the Section.
  • Monitor subordinate’s performance against SHEQ requirements and corrects non-conformances.
  • Investigates incidents (SHEQ) and identify root causes of Non-Conformances and corrects deviations.
  • Maintains a high level of good housekeeping in the workplace at all time.
  • The ideal candidate should have :

  • Millwright Trade Test Certificate (Mechanical & Electrical) & N3 Qualification (4 subjects)
  • 2 Years post apprentice experience (preferable)
  • Must have mechanical / electrical fault-finding experience in a heavy industrial environment.
