FIELD SUPERVISOR (Chief Research Technologist) (One full time position, 4 year - contract) The Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drug Research Unit is looking for an experienced, energetic and organized person with clinical research experience to co-ordinate TRUST 1 and 2, two studies examining TB treatment outcomes in a longitudinal cohort.
We require one full-time person who will be responsible for coordinating all aspects of study operations for two projects across our three study sites, supervising field staff, liaising with the investigative team, ensuring compliance to the study protocols and data checking, entry and transmission.
They will also be required to closely supervise project staff, including DOTs workers. The successful candidates will be based full-time in Worcester and will be required to travel Cape Town once a week as part of their project responsibilities.
Responsibilities : Ensuring compliance with study protocols Training and supervision of field staff Administrative tasks such as reimbursement of participants, Monitoring of blood draws and additional sample collection by study nurses with some sample transport Study coordination to ensure recruitment and follow up targets are met Field site supervision and coordination Quality assurance activities Data management : particularly data verification, edits, entry and transmission Writing of weekly technical reports Liaison with collaborators, clinic staff and Department of Health Core Requirements : Have an undergraduate degree (preference registered nurse) Have a postgraduate diploma in a health-related field (preference degree) Speak fluent Afrikaans in addition to English Have experience on studies conducted with people who use substances and have tuberculosis (TB) Experience in working with international research teams Live (or willingness to work full-time) in Worcester Have valid South African driver’s license (Code B) Project management experience (management of field staff) Completed good clinical practice (GCP) training Advantageous : Have experience in high-level study administration tasks Background in nursing Previous research experience in Worcester Experience in bio-behavioural data collection Interested candidates can send their CV
